Plan for life after sport
Every Club has a qualified Career Coach whose job it is to deliver the CAREERWISE program and help players plan for life after sport.
The program delivers to all ages, from elite juniors (U16s & U18s), State Youth, State Cup, NRL Development List and NRL players.
The best athletes have a balanced approach to their football and their life.
Award winning and based on best practice in career development, the program is there as support through every age and stage.
It will help players make well-informed choices about their future career.
It will also help pave the way for the future by helping players engage in work, study, work experience, volunteer work and networking that will help them make a smooth transition from professional athlete to professional something-else.
It was essential that I started planning for life beyond Rugby League, and NRL Careerwise helped me develop a comprehensive plan and a more positive attitude towards the next stage of my life.
Jason King-Former Sea Eagles Captain. 14 years and over 240 NRL games. Represented NSW City and NSW Origin. B.Business & Law Graduate 2015
Players who have already experienced CAREERWISE are unstinting in their praise for the help it has given them.
Professional sport can end anytime, I believe it is very important to have a trade to fall back on.

Transition
Once you are part of the NRL, you will never walk alone.
If you are playing NRL and have turned 27 already, or if you have transitioned from playing NRL in the last five years then we are pleased to welcome you to the NRL Transition Program.
No matter whether you're six months into or six years away from transition you know better than anyone that preparation is key. It is the aim of this program to help you prepare to be "transition-tough".
Your wellbeing is our priority
Change and transition can sometimes be challenging. It is normal to feel a range of things; like missing the team environment, the training, and that passion that you felt when playing NRL.
Many guys have said it was really helpful to talk to someone about how they were feeling. This can be Bobcat, Nigel, Dene, George, your Club Wellbeing & Career staff or trusted friends or family.
Retired players who participated in Career Transition say it helped them to feel more confident about moving to the next phase of their career.
Assistance is just a call away
Also you and your partner have fully funded access to a professional league support service provided by Benestar in Australia and LeVa in New Zealand. These services are available for up to 5 years into transition from the NRL.
This service is completely confidential and can be accessed directly 24 hours a day via this emergency call line:
Australia 1300 360 364
New Zealand +64 92613490
If you need to speak to someone urgently, you can also call Andrew Ryan who will connect you with your local League Support psychologist to arrange a meeting.
