Hailing from the Lower Hutt suburb of Wainuiomata, Tauaneai enjoyed a standout rookie campaign with the Red V a year ago.

At just 18 years of age, Tauaneai averaged 148 run metres and made 213 total tackles at 96 per cent efficiency before missing the final fortnight of the season with a knee injury.

A dynamic middle forward, the 18-year-old received Player of the Tournament honours in both the Tarsha Gale Cup and Harvey Norman Women’s National Championships in 2023.

She was rewarded with selection in NSW’s Under 19s State of Origin squad in 2023 but instead opted to declare her allegiance to the Kiwi Ferns.

Tauaneai will remain a Dragon until at least the end of the 2026 season with younger sister Trinity joining her in the club’s NRLW squad in 2025.
