Mele Hufanga burst onto the Rugby League scene in 2023 when she joined the Broncos off the back of a stint in Rugby Union with the Blues Women. Hufanga quickly found her footing and had a strong maiden season in the league which earned her a spot on the New Zealand team. Her impressive on-field abilities also earned Mele a nomination for the international Golden Boot award. Hufanga’s hard-hitting runs helped her make 71 tackle breaks, 14 line breaks and cross for 10 tries, helping lead the Broncos to a semi-final appearance in 2023.
