Biography:

He wound up as a champion halfback, but Cooper Cronk's incredible journey of NRL success began as an interchange utility for the Storm.

Matt Orford's departure from the club in 2006 gave Cronk an opportunity in the No.7 jersey and he struck up a lethal combination with fellow future greats Cameron Smith and Billy Slater.

While extremely skilful, Cronk's game wasn't flashy but there were few players quicker between the ears or more methodical in their execution. His composure under pressure and will to win was on display countless times for Queensland and Australia.

After featuring in seven grand finals with Melbourne - winning four premierships (though two were stripped for salary cap breaches) - Cronk proved his class by joining the Roosters and finishing a 372-game NRL career with back-to-back titles.

The playmaker's courageous performance in the 2018 decider against his old club nursing a broken scapula will go down in history.
