Points Scoring
Try Scoring
Try – The attacking player successfully scores a try
Conversion
An attempt at goal after a try has been scored
Points- Conversion is successful
Missed – Conversion is unsuccessful
Penalty Goal
A shot at goal awarded to a team after the opposition is penalised
Points – Penalty goal is successful
Missed – Penalty goal unsuccessful
Field Goal
The attacking team attempt a drop goal
Points – Field goal attempt is successful
Missed – Field goal attempt is unsuccessful
Ball Runs
The ball carrier goes into contact with the defender
Hitup – The ball carrier runs directly into the tackler, no attempt to evade the tackler
Kick return – Ball carrier takes ball into contact after kick receipt
Dummy half – Ball carrier runs into contact from dummy half
Line Engaged – Player has engaged the defensive line or run to a dead end before passing or kicking
Attack
Line Break - Ball carrier breaks the defensive line in open play or when player crosses the try line and successfully scores a Try
Line Break Assist - An action by attacking player that has led to or created the chance of a Line Break for his team mate
Try Assist - An action by an attacking player that has led to or created a Try Scoring chance for his team mate
Play The Ball - Player who has possession whilst playing the ball after a successful tackle or handover
One on One steal – Player successfully steals the ball during tackle
Passing
Offloads – Attacking player successfully offloads in tackle
Passes – Attacking player successfully passes the ball
Receipts – Attacking player successfully catches or picks up the ball
Dummy Passes – A fake pass or body movement attempting to trick the defence
Defence
Tackles made – Defensive player successfully completes tackle
Missed tackles – Defensive player does not bring player to ground or complete tackle
Ineffective tackles – Defensive player does not stop attacking player from offloading in tackle
Intercepts – Defensive player successfully intercepts ball winning possession for his team
Kicks Defused – Defensive player successfully defuses kick and prevents scoring action or opposition reclaiming ball
Kicking
Kicks – Attacking player has kicked the ball in play
Forced Dropouts – Attacking player has successfully forced opposition back in own in goal area
Bomb kicks – Attacking kick with a high trajectory
Grubbers – Attacking kick along the ground
40/20 - Ball is kicked from behind the kickers own 40m line and goes out within the defensive teams 20m line and the goal line. The ball has to bounce out over the side line to regain possession.
Cross Field kicks – Attacking player kicks across field for team mate
Kicked dead - Ball is kicked dead in goal
Negative Play
Errors – An error is when the ball is lost by the attacking team or when defensive players have reset tackle count to zero.
Handling Error – Possession, or the chance of possession, has been lost due to a handling error. Examples of this are a dropped catch or clean up, throwing an intercept offload or pass, throwing ball in to touch.
Penalties – Penalties conceded by player
On Report – Player has been put on report for penalty offence or potential penalty
Sin Bins – Player has been sent to sin bin for penalty offence
Send Offs – Player has been sent from field for penalty offence
