Our Saturday double kicked off in Newcastle with the Knights hosting the rested Roosters before we headed to Townsville for an all-Queensland showdown between the Cowboys and Dolphins.

On the back of their stunning win over Manly in golden point last week the Knights came out firing and led 8-0 after an hour before the Roosters kicked into gear.

With Lindsay Collins, Robert Toia, Angus Crichton, Spencer Leniu and Connor Watson all in Origin camp the Roosters' depth was tested and young gun forward Salesi Foketi produced a superb solo try to get his side back in the game before a Siua Wong try sealed the gutsy win.

The Cowboys also have a handful of stars away on Origin duty but they welcomed back Murray Taulagi for their showdown with the Dolphins.

Jason Taumalolo was also due back from injury but pulled out in the warm-up after tweaking his calf, putting the Cowboys on the back foot from the outset.

In the end they simply had no answer to the attacking prowess of the Dolphins who have climbed to sixth on the ladder.

King Kodi: At 31, Kodi Nikorima is playing some of the best footy of his career in tandem with young gun Isaiya Katoa. With three line breaks, two try assists, 124 run metres and a try, Nikorima tormented the Cowboys' defence for the full 80.

Big men dominate: Francis Molo (17 runs for 174 metres), Mark Nicholls (12 runs for 130 metres) and Connelly Lemuelu (13 runs for 134 metres) laid the platform for the Dolphins' devastating backline to go to work.

Jack attack: Record breaker Jack Bostock ran for a staggering 312 metres to go with his four tries. He also had five tackle breaks as he tormented the Cowboys' right edge all night.

Full-time: After losing their first four games of the season the Dolphins have won seven of their next 10 to sit in sixth on the ladder with the second-best points differential in the competition (+156). The Dolphins have piled on 158 points to 18 in their past three matches against the Cowboys, Dragons and Bulldogs.
