Canberra Raiders rookie Noah Martin is set to cap a remarkable cross-country journey to the NRL when he makes his first-grade debut on Sunday afternoon.

The 20-year-old spent the early years of his life in the Northern NSW town of Casino before his parents decided to pack the family up and travel around Australia.

The family eventually settled in Eden on the NSW Far South Coast, with Noah following in his older brother Jordan’s footsteps as an emerging rugby league prospect while playing for the Narooma Devils.

The duo eventually made their way into the Raiders system and Noah is set to make his debut off the bench in Sunday’s clash with the Warriors.

Noah Martin Try

"We grew up in Casino and then mum and dad decided to travel around Australia and then we landed down in Eden," Jordan Martin told NRL.com.

"Mum and dad just wanted a change and wanted to see the country while we were still young. We had a caravan with three bunks so it was self-contained, we saw quite a few sights while we were away. We would stay off the road for a few days at a time, which was good fun."

Noah has long been considered one of the most promising forwards in the game and played for the NSW Under 19s side alongside many of his Raiders teammates in 2024.

Jordan's NRL debut came in Round 17 last year after recovering from an ACL injury, but his younger brother has had to wait a little bit longer for his first crack at the top flight.

The back rower has starred in the Raiders' NSW Cup side in the past 18 months and has already scored five tries in just nine games this season.

Having grown up the youngest of three boys, Noah had a rough and tumble upbringing and Jordan is confident that has held his brother in good stead as he prepares to make his NRL debut.

"We were wild growing up," Jordan said. "There were a few hospital trips with my younger brothers, especially Noah.

"We used to run amok and picked on him a little bit but that's why he's so tough now. There were a few late shots when we were playing in the backyard but it was good fun growing up."

Avid watchers of the Raiders NSW Cup team would know the Martin brothers are instantly recognisable thanks to their long, flowing mullets.

While their mother wasn’t too impressed when the duo first showed off the hair style, she eventually came around.

Warriors v Raiders: Round 12

With a five-year age gap, the Raiders NSW Cup team provided the first opportunity for the pair to play in the same side together.

With Noah preparing for his first NRL match this weekend, Jordan is desperate to ensure they get the chance to play together in the top flight.

"It's pretty cool to play together," Jordan said. "Last year was the first time I ever played with him so it's good to put on the jersey alongside him, especially the green jersey.

"Now we just want to do it together in the NRL."
