After putting the cherry on top of a fantastic Magic Round with a try of the year contender, Raiders flyer Kaeo Weekes is now eyeing off the prized scalp of the top-of-the table Bulldogs.
The Raiders moved into second place on the ladder with their golden point win over the Storm in a game that was touted as the match of the round and, in the end, more than delivered.

Kaeo Weekes' match-defining try in all its glory
“That was a good game to be part of. They got up to a pretty good lead at the start there, we just had to stay calm and fall back on process,” Weekes said.
“We're pretty good at fighting our way back into the game, so it was good to come away with the two points, especially for Taps’ [captain Joe Tapine] 200th.”
Voted the try of the round by NRL fans, Weekes said the four-pointer he scored to help snatch the late win was simply a case of following his instincts, something he’s been encouraged to do by his coach Ricky Stuart.
“Ryan Papenhuyzen is pretty fast so I knew I might have to try kick it instead of trying to run around him, but it’s just all in the heat of the moment,” Weekes told NRL.com.

All Tries – Storm v Raiders
“You've got to back yourself and go on your instincts and back your skills, so it was good that that paid off.
“Sticky, he puts a lot of belief and a lot of confidence into the players and just tells you to go out there and back yourself and you want to repay that for him and him showing the belief in you … we all just love going out there and playing for each other.”
The Raiders now return to familiar surroundings at GIO Stadium for another epic encounter in Women in League Round.
Weekes, who thanked his partner and all the women in his family for their unwavering support of him throughout his career, said the Dogs would provide his side with a formidable challenge.
“We're going back home so we know we've got to turn out for our fans and for our home crowd,” Weekes said.
“It's only Round 9, so there's still a long way to go and we know you can't win the competition this early in the season, but we keep building and building and building we'll go a long way in in this competition.
“The Bulldogs are a good team, they've showed that in the competition so far.
“They've got a great defensive system, they've held teams to nil, so we've got to be on our game and show up for our home fans once again.
“That's a big motivator for us to get home and put on a good show for our fans and the club.”
