With the round's top captaincy pick among the two players who hit triple-digit scores in Round 8, it was a high scoring week on the whole which saw a bunch of coaches hit at least 1000 points.

At the other end of the scale, a round full of sin bins meant plenty of players struggled too.

Round 8 Fantasy winners

For the first 40 minutes on Saturday night it seemed as if Beau Fermor couldn't put a foot wrong, with the $658k EDG/CTR running in a try, setting one up and being credit with a further two tries saves as a defender in a massive opening stanza.

It meant that despite a second half in which his team were outscored 38-0, the platform was already in place for Fermor to register a monster 109 points for the 5.6 percent of teams who own him.

Beau Fermor Try

Round 8 gave us the rare instance of two triple point scorers, with Fantasy superstar Terrell May registering a 104 that came from him playing 84 minutes of the Wests Tigers' golden point win against the Sharks.

May edged out Nathan Cleary as the week's most popular captaincy choice, with his haul including seven offloads to hands (28 points), 228 run metres (22 points) and not a single missed tackle from 42 attempts (42 points).

Payne Haas followed closely on 97, with teammate Adam Reynolds (85) finishing just ahead of fellow HLF Tom Dearden, who set up five tries on his way to 82 points.

All Tries – Cowboys v Titans

Warriors DPP Erin Clark topped the HOK-eligible players with an 81-point effort, with Haumole Olakau'atu the leading EDG and Scott Drinkwater the top WFB.

Those who stuck with cash cow Sandon Smith (HLF, $477k) were richly rewarded with his 75, while scarcely owned WFB Robert Derby scored three tries on his way to a 73 which made him the point of difference player of the week.

Round 8 Fantasy losers

Titans MID Brock Gray spent as much time in the sin bin as he did on the field in Round 8, with his trip to the naughty seat, combined with a pair of penalties and missed tackles, leaving him with a final score of -6.

Brock Gray sent to the bin

Bulldogs DPP Sitili Tupouniua, who at times this year has actually been a decent Fantasy player, also spent time in the sin bin on his way to scoring a season-low six.

Raiders flyer Xavier Savage registered a second-straight single digit score with an eight, while a knee injury meant cheapie Mawene Hiroti managed only 10 before going off.

Those hoping Tallis Duncan would thrive in the absence of Lachlan Hubner for the Rabbitohs were left disappointed by a 10 which came despite him playing 39 minutes, with seven missed tackles his main downfall.
