Key positional switches are set to play a big role in Round 8 of the NRL Fantasy season, while there are a couple of big names set to return from injury as well.

Coaches will be well advised to get in early and sort their roster, with the Anzac Day games on Friday meaning half of the Round 8 matches will be done and dusted by the time Saturday rolls around.

NRL Fantasy teams analysis: Round 8

Broncos v Bulldogs, Thursday at Suncorp Stadium

Broncos: With Reece Walsh expected to miss multiple weeks with a knee injury, $433k CTR/WFB Selwyn Cobbo gets a run at fullback, while Deine Mariner is recalled on the wing. It presents a good chance for Cobbo – who sits in nearly six percent of teams – to rack up some good scores after averaging just 30.4 through the opening two months. After a couple of mediocre weeks Payne Haas bounced back with a 73 last week which marked his best score since Round 3. HOK/HLF Cory Paix, who is still owned by over 14 percent of teams, is set to keep making money this after a last-up 39.

Bulldogs: Jacob Preston has really hit his straps now and is the third-best EDG player by last three game average right now (67.7). The return of Matt Burton did no harm to Toby Sexton's scoring ability, with the $591k HLF hitting 61 against the Bunnies on Good Friday, while Burton himself managed 54 despite an up-and-down game on the ball. Some will be looking at Max King as a potential POD this week following his 86, and right now he looks like being a player that can average in the low to mid 50s consistently.

Roosters v Dragons, Friday at Allianz Stadium

Roosters: Gun back-rower Angus Crichton is back after a week out with a groin niggle, while the other big news comes on the wing. Having just a couple of weeks ago appeared to lose his spot in the backline, popular WFB/CTR Mark Nawaqanitawase is retained on the wing, with Dominic Young the player to make way for Billy Smith. Naufahu Whyte continues to deliver up front and has a season average of 52, with close to 18 percent of teams now owning him.

Dragons: Toby Couchman is absolutely killing it right now and ranks in the top three for both EDG and MID players, with a last three game average of 73. It remains to be seen what impact the return of Emre Guler might have on the Dragons' middle rotation, with a fair chance Couchman sees a reduction in minutes this week, but not enough to stop him from being a set and forget keeper.  A 51 last week ensures Dylan Egan (EDG, $482k) will continue to make money in Round 8, with his break even sitting at -4.

Warriors v Knights, Friday at Apollo Projects Stadium

Warriors: Wayde Egan failed to play the full 80 minutes for the first time in 2025 last week, but still managed 52 points to remain the game's second-best HOK by average score. The return of Rocco Berry means Kurt Capwell returns to the back row and impressive youngster Leka Halasima, who scored a try on his way to 54 in the golden point win over the Broncos, reverts to the bench. Luke Metcalf continues to slowly make money and has now improved $82k in value since Round 1.

Knights: Another week of on-field struggles and <40 Fantasy points for Kalyn Ponga means many coaches will have seen enough now and will be pulling the trigger on trades. The WFB is showing glimpses of big plays which would result in large Fantasy gains, but right now it's just not happening for him. No such worries for Greg Marzhew however, with his 88 last week a nice reward for the patience shown by the six percent of teams who still own him. Dylan Lucas ($697k) returns to the line up after a layoff with a hamstring injury. Those who want the CTR-eligible forward back in their line up won't have the luxury of waiting, with a break even of 40 meaning he's likely to go up in price again after Round 8. His return also means the party is over for Thomas Cant, who did an incredible job for owners over the past few weeks to average 58.5 and jump $171k in value.

Storm v Rabbitohs, Friday at AAMI Park

Storm: Well-owned WFB Ryan Papenhuyzen is starting to hit the type of Fantasy form that will see him become a full-season keeper, with last week's 59 topping the charts for Storm players. Coaches are continuing to remain patient with Cameron Munster despite his season average dropping to 43.8 this week. EDG Eliesa Katoa had his worst Fantasy game of the season in the loss to the Dolphins and managed just 25 points, which is nearly half his previous low in 2025.

Rabbitohs: Potentially excellent news for Latrell Mitchell owners, with the $742k WFB moved back to fullback this week, which in turn makes for terrible news for Jye Gray owners, with the previously high-performing DPP shunted back to the bench. It's hard to say if it's a long-term move, with Jayden Sullivan – the club's usual No.14 – required in the halves at the minute while Jamie Humphreys remains out with a hamstring injury. Cash cow Lachlan Hubner is out under the concussion protocol but remains a hold.

Cowboys v Titans, Saturday at Queensland Country Bank Stadium

Cowboys: In-form youngster Jaxon Purdue is comfortably Noth Queensland's most-owned player, with representation in just under 28 percent of all teams. HLF Jake Clifford fell off a cliff prior to the club's bye last week, registering 28 after averaging 61.6 through his first three games.

Titans: Jaylan De Groot owners finally saw some Fantasy action from the $297k WFB, who racked up over 200 metres in yardage to record a 36 which sets him on the path to (slowly) make some money. Tino Fa'asuamaleaui hit a score in the 60s for the second game in a row and is shaping as a possible point of difference option at MID, with a fairly affordable $709k price tag still next to his name. After a couple of down weeks Beau Fermor (EDG/CTR, $609k) crept back to form with a 49.

Panthers v Sea Eagles, Saturday at CommBank Stadium

Panthers: King Cleary is back and is set to become a whole lot more expensive after this week, with a break even of 35 which he could easily double against the Sea Eagles. It doesn't look like working out in a Fantasy sense for his halves partner Blaize Talagi however, with the pre-season favourite struggling to 22 in a starting playmaker role in Round 7. Popular WFB pickup Thomas Jenkins has come right back to earth now after a hot run of form and isn't a reliable option to have in your scoring 17 if you can avoid it.

Sea Eagles: Tom Trbojevic returns from injury at fullback, but it has minimal Fantasy implications for the time being, with 'Turbo' being a very average scorer so far this year (29 points per game). It means Lehi Hopoate moves back out to the wing, but his scoring potential there is arguably as good as it was at fullback anyway. Reuben Garrick ($658k, CTR/WFB) is suffering as part of an out-of-form team right now, but if you own him he's well worth keeping hold of and remains a top week-to-week prospect in his positions.

Raiders v Dolphins, Sunday at GIO Stadium

Raiders: Everything Hudson Young touches turns to gold right now, with the EDG possessing a 75.3 point average over his last three games. He's shot up to $815k now and will almost definitely be even more expense after the game against the Dolphins, with a break even of 29 which he should take care of easily. MID Corey Horsburgh continues to be the picture of consistency on the Fantasy front this year, with just 10 points separating his best and worst score and a season average that sits at 54.1. Matty Nicholson ended up playing the full 80 minutes last week despite the return of Zac Hosking, so for the time being he's a hold.

Dolphins: Herbie Farnworth continues to deliver excellent results for his owners, with a last-up 74 meaning he's now close to being the best CTR in the game by average score (59.4). Max Plath has been named to play at hooker despite suffering a foot injury against the Storm. Thanks to his 11 points last week he is a good chance of being available at close to $600k in coming weeks, with a hefty break even of 72 to try and overcome in Round 8. Nine percent of teams still own Tom Gilbert despite the DPP forward dropping in value every week as he struggles out on the edge.

Wests Tigers v Sharks, Sunday at Leichhardt Oval

Wests Tigers: Lachlan Galvin returns to the halves, which is bad news for coaches who jumped on Adam Doueihi last week in the hope of snaring a bargain on a CTR-eligible player. Terrell May continued his crazy start to the season with a try that helped him to 86 points, and you can expect him to be this week's top captaincy pick once again as a result. A sin-binning in the second half damaged what would have otherwise been another good score for Starford To'a ($512k, CTR), but his long-term outlook continues to look good.

Sharks: Addin Fonua-Blake was limited to 44 minutes last week in what was likely a precautionary move given his recent struggles with a groin issue, and the fact that the game was under control. A try meant he still managed to score 44 points though. There's some surprise support for Nicho Hynes on the ownership front, with close to eight percent of teams now on the $726k HLF, despite the fact that his days of regular 60+ scores appear well and truly over.
