Two of the sport's biggest clubs will go head-to-head when the Broncos take on the Roosters in a Friday night showdown at Suncorp Stadium.

A full house is expected as Brisbane look to build on last week's victory over the Wests Tigers and they're eager to put on a show for their fans.

Ben Hunt is set to take on a greater playmaking role on Friday night while Reece Walsh is out to build on a steady start to the season.

The Roosters had their hearts broken by the Rabbitohs in Round 5, but the pain of a defeat to their fierce rivals will drive them in this week's trip north.

It's been a tough start to the year for an inexperienced side and they're out to make a statement at Suncorp Stadium.

Remarkably, the two teams have played 50 times since 1998, splitting the series at 25 wins apiece, with this weekend's victor able to claim bragging rights.

Team news

Broncos: Back-rower Brendan Piakura's two-game ban brings Jaiyden Hunt into the starting side and Martin Taupau onto the bench. Tyson Smoothy is the new 18th man. No changes in Friday's team update, with Tyson Smoothy the 18th man.

Roosters:  Just one change on match day for the Roosters, with Salesi Foketi to start at lock and Victor Radley shifting to the bench. Outside back Mark Nawaqanitawase remains in the squad as 18th man but Robinson has resisted the urge to make a late backline reshuffle. Veteran halfback Chad Townsend makes way for youngster Hugo Savala in just his fourth game and his first as a starter. The loss of Lindsay Collins to a knee injury sees Nat Butcher move from lock to prop and Victor Radley return from a cheekbone injury in the No.13.
