As it happened: Broncos outlast Dolphins; Titans topple Roosters

Full-time: The Broncos have avenged last year's shock loss to the Dolphins by defending their way to a hard-fought 20-12 win in heavy rain in Brisbane. The victory is the latest indication of the type of team coach Michael Maguire is building at Red Hill, with his side repelling wave after wave of Dolphins attack throughout the second half.

For the Dolphins, they had plenty of opportunities but struggled to ice their chances and could not work out a way to break down the Broncos defence. Dolphins 12 - Broncos 20. 

76th minute: The Dolphins have made things interesting for the 44,278 fans in attendance at a wet Suncorp Stadium, with Jake Averillo racing 90m to close the gap with less than five minutes remaining. The hosts still need two more scores but they are set to throw everything at the Broncos in a desperate bid to pull it off. Dolphins 12 - Broncos 20.

68th minute: The Broncos have scored some impressive tries tonight but the last five minutes of play might be the most pleasing for coach Michael Maguire. The Dolphins have spent the period camped on their opponents' line and have thrown plenty at Brisbane but Maguire's men have held firm. The Dolphins have been tackled inside the 5m zone a stunning seven times in this match, a testament to the Broncos' scrambling defence. Dolphins 6 - Broncos 20.

56th minute: Shibasaki has a double and the Broncos are one step closer to victory at Suncorp Stadium. A Dolphins error handed Brisbane an attacking scrum and they perfectly executed from the set piece. A hit up to the right opened up the field for a left-side shift, with Adam Reynolds freezing the defenders through the middle of the field before Reece Walsh produced a superb tap on for his centre. Dolphins 6 - Broncos 20

50th minute: While both teams were willing to throw the ball around in the first half, the opening exchanges of the second have been more of a grind. The Dolphins are desperate to be the first to score and they were forced to repel a Broncos' attacking set. 

In positive news for the hosts, winger Jack Bostock passed his HIA and is back on the field. Dolphins 6 - Broncos 16

Half-time: Jack Bostock has been sent for an HIA in the final minute of the half after a high tackle that saw Jordan Riki placed on report. The penalty handed the Dolphins one last chance to strike however the Broncos were up to the task and held out their opponents.

The final set was reflective of the opening 40 minutes, with Kristian Woolf's side dominating the tackles inside the 20m zone stat but struggling to convert territory into points. Considering the heavy rain that has fallen through the first half, it was an impressive half of football from both teams. Dolphins 6 - Broncos 16.

30th minute: Kotoni Staggs has made an instant impact in his first match of the season. Playing his first game since injuring his quad in the Pre-Season Challenge, the centre pounced on a quick play the ball to weave his way through a retreating defensive line and find the try line. Edge forward Jordan Riki laid the groundwork for the try with a barnstorming run that forced the Dolphins to scramble. Dolphins 6 - Broncos 16.

20th minute: The Dolphins have hit back almost immediately, with Max Plath scoring to cut the deficit to four. A penalty in the set after points handed the hosts a chance level the scores however Isaiya Katoa threw a forward pass and the Broncos were able to breathe a sigh of relief. Dolphins 6 - Broncos 10.

16th minute: The Broncos have made it two in quick succession to jump out to a 10-point lead. The Dolphins failed to clean up a kick, handing Brisbane a fresh attacking set and Cory Paix made them pay when he threw a dummy and darted from dummy half. Dolphins 0 - Broncos 10.

12th minute: Conditions are wet at Suncorp Stadium after multiple days of heavy rain but that hasn't stopped the teams chancing their arm. The Dolphins had an early chance but it's the Broncos who have struck first through Gehamat Shibasaki. Dolphins 0 - Broncos 4.

Late mail: The attention shifts north for the Battle for Brisbane at Suncorp Stadium. Both Kristian Woolf and Michael Maguire have resisted the urge to make any late changes, with the Broncos to line up 1-17. The only change for the Dolphins is the inclusion of Kenny Bromwich on the bench, which was first announced on Thursday night. 

Roosters v Titans at Allianz Stadium

Full-time: The Titans have their first victory over the Roosters since Round 10 2016, AJ Brimson pouncing on a loose ball to race away and put a punctuation point on an impressive win away from home. 

The Roosters have plenty of chances but made far too many errors to come away with the win and gifted the Gold Coast multiple tries in the process. Roosters 12 - Titans 30.

75th minute: The Titans have some breathing room after skipper Tino Fa'asuamaleaui charged through from close range to put his team up two converted tries. With five minutes remaining, the Gold Coast must be feeling pretty confident but the Roosters have shown they are capable of turning on the points in the blink of an eye. Roosters 12 - Titans 24.

70th minute: A goal-line drop out handed the Titans a chance to hit the front but rather than thinking about field goal, the visitors had their sights on a four-pointer. The decision paid off, with the Philip Sami finishing off a perfectly executed right-side shift to put his side in front. 

Meanwhile, Mark Nawaqanitawase has passed his HIA and will return to the field. Roosters 12 - Titans 18.

62nd minute: Jayden Campbell has locked things up after taking an intercept and racing the length of the Allianz Stadium turf to make it 12-12. The halfback missed the sideline conversation that would have put his side in front. 

In a further blow for the Roosters, Mark Nawaqanitawase has left the field for an HIA. The Titans have received some good news on that front, Verrills passing his HIA and cleared to return. Roosters 12 - Titans 12.

53rd minute: Another Gold Coast error handed the Roosters a chance to kick further clear but this time the Titans were up to the task and forced a turnover. 

The visitors have been dealt a blow, however, with hooker Sam Verrills taken from the field for an HIA. Roosters 12 - Titans 8

50th minute: The Titans have their first lead of the night after Jayden Campbell slotted a penalty goal to put his side up 8-6. The lead was short-lived, however, after Lindsay Collins forced a Klese Haas error from the kick off. 

This time the Roosters were able to turn field position into points, Dominic Young breaking through the cover defence to score in the corner. The winger is one of the best finishers in the game and that was his 16th try in 13 games at Allianz Stadium. Roosters 12 - Titans 8.

Half-time: A late flash of James Tedesco brilliance wasn't enough to break the deadlock, with the two teams to enter the sheds at 6-all. The fullback broke through the defensive line with two minutes to play before linking up with Daniel Tupou, who was reeled in. 

The Titans scrambled exceptionally well to deny their opponents and ensure they remain level at half-time. Roosters 6 - Titans 6.

32nd minute: The match has well and truly evened out since Brimson's try, with both sides producing flashes of attacking brilliance. The defence has been up to the task, with untimely errors also hurting each team.

In positive news for the Roosters, Victor Radley has passed his HIA and has been cleared to return to the field. Roosters 6 - Titans 6.

21st minute: The Roosters have been dealt a blow midway through the first off with Victor Radley leaving the field for an HIA after a head clash. Roosters 6 - Titans 6

19th minute: The Roosters are dominating the stats sheet but we're all locked up on the scoreboard after AJ Brimson burrowed his way over. An Angus Crichton penalty put the Titans on the attack and a quick play the ball from Jayden Campbell provided the opportunity for his halves partner to strike. Roosters 6 - Titans 6

10th minute: The Roosters have dominated the opening 10 minutes, breaking through the Titans defensive line on multiple occasions. The pressure has eventually led to points, with centre Mark Nawaqanitawase crashing over to put the hosts on the board. Roosters 6 - Titans 0.

Kickoff: We are underway at Allianz Stadium, with the Titans kicking off. There has been some rain throughout the day but the skies are currently clear and hopefully the clouds hold off until after the match. 

The Roosters have won 11-straight against the Titans, who are making their first trip to the new Allianz Stadium.

Late mail: Both sides will line up 1-17, with no late changes for either team in Friday's final team update. Billy Smith is the Roosters' 18th man, with Arama Hau filling that role for the Titans.
