The Warriors sent their passionate fans home happy with a gritty win against the Roosters while Payne Haas was immense as the Broncos continued their recent domination of the Cowboys.

After a shock loss to the Raiders in Round 2, the Broncos got back on home turf at Suncorp Stadium and came up with some spectacular plays to sink their Queensland rivals by 10 points.

Next week: The Broncos head into another Queensland derby against the Dolphins at Suncorp Stadium while the Cowboys face the Raiders in Townsville.

Full-time: The Broncos get home on the back of a monster game from Carl Webb medal winner Payne Haas (23 runs for 210 metres, nine tackle breaks, five offloads) and his front-row partner Pat Carrigan (21 runs for 198 metres). The Broncos have now won their past five games against the Cowboys and move to 2-1 on the season while Todd Payten's men remain winless. Jason Taumalolo stood tall in his return from injury for North Queensland with 14 runs for 149 metres in 46 minutes of game time.

Payne Haas Try

72 min: Payne Haas at his absolute best as he splits the line from 30 metres out and swerves around Scott Drinkwater to put the game to bed with a trademark try. Adam Reynolds converts to make it 26-12.

71 min: The Broncos look to put the game to bed when Ben Hunt grubbers into the in goal for a chaser but Scott Drinkwater cleans it up and comes away.

65 min: A penalty against Reece Robson for a high shot on Reece Walsh gifts Adam Reynolds another two points. The Broncos lead 20-12 and Reynolds moves to third on his own on the all-time list.

Reynolds becomes 3rd highest scorer

60 min: Jesse Arthars crosses for his fifth try of the season courtesy of a pinpoint long ball from Reece Walsh. The successful conversion by Adam Reynolds takes him to equal third on the all-time NRL pointscoring list with Jarrod Croker on 2374 points.

54 min: Murray Taulagi takes the last pass from Scott Drinkwater and slides over in the same corner and won't be denied this time. The try is the 50th of Taulagi's career. Drinkwater pilots the conversion from touch to lock it up at 12-12.

53 min: The Cowboys go close but Murray Taulagi knocks on while trying to pick up a grubber right on the tryline. Reece Walsh goes on report for a shoulder charge after making contact with Taulagi's head while coming across in cover.

51 min: Reece Walsh spills a Jake Clifford bomb and the Cowboys go on the attack again and earn a couple of repeat sets on the back of penalties for a strip and lying in the ruck.

Griffin Neame Try

41 min: The ideal start for the Cowboys with a Jake Clifford bomb coming down to a trailing Sam McIntyre who finds Griffin Neame looming in support and the gap closes to six. Broncos 12-6.

Half-time: On the back of a sensational first half from Adam Reynolds the Broncos lead 12-0 at the break. Payne Haas plays the full 40 minutes and comes up with 10 runs, four tackle breaks and 19 tackles. The Cowboys had plenty of field position but came up with seven errors as they went scoreless in the first half for the second time this season.

39 min: Broncos centre Deine Mariner comes up with an error in the play the ball to give the Cowboys a late shot at points but Coen Hess turns it straight over.

37 min: Cowboys pair Murray Taulagi and Kai O'Donnell are both put on report for their involvement in a tackle on Selwyn Cobbo.

Walsh with a HUGE 40/20!

16 min: A mistake by Sam McIntyre puts the Cowboys under pressure and a rampaging Payne Haas goes close but Reece Robson pulls him up short and Haas is penalised for a double movement.

14 min: The Cowboys have had 58 per cent of possession and pepper the line but the Broncos' defence stands firm.

13 min: A clever grubber by Jake Clifford almost goes dead before John Bateman taps it back and Payne Haas is forced to ground it.

12 min: Gehamat Shibasaki gets a tough pass from Reece Walsh and puts it down, opening the door for the Cowboys to mount more pressure.

8 min: A high tackle penalty against Pat Carrigan invites the Cowboys onto the attack but Viliame Vailea cops an accidental finger in the eye on tackle one and leaves the field for a HIA. He passed the HIA and returned to the field midway through the half but couldn't come back after half-time after experiencing blurred vision.

Late Mail

No late changes for Michael Maguire with star centre Kotoni Staggs to be given one more week before he returns from a hip flexor injury in Round 4. Halfback Adam Reynolds requires 11 points to climb into third on the NRL's all-time point scorers list. Tyson Smoothy is 18th man.

North Queensland are 1-17 with no late changes. Star forward Jason Taumalolo is set for his first NRL game of the season after completing a successful comeback through Queensland Cup last weekend. Jeremiah Nanai is also back after he was demoted to Queensland Cup last week. Jake Clifford is set for his first match of the season, having overcome a hernia that hampered his pre-season.

Townsend kicks a 40/20

54 min: Chad Townsend comes up with a 40-20 for the Roosters but the chance goes begging when Dom Young is bundled into touch by Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad. Winger Roger Tuivasa-Sheck is also involved in the tackle but leaves the field immediately with a hamstring injury.

45 min: The Roosters create a bit of space on the right but Siua Wong puts the ball down as he tries to get a pass away and the Warriors go on the attack.

Half-time: The Warriors completed 19 of 21 sets at 90 per cent and put plenty of pressure on the Roosters but could come up with just the one try. Erin Clark had nine runs for 93 metres for the home side while Daniel Tupou racked up 134 metres for the Roosters. Connor Watson came up with 36 tackles for the visitors while Wayde Egan made 29 for the Warriors.

40 min: Roosters hooker Connor Watson leaves the field for a HIA after copping an accidental elbow while making a tackle on Jackson Ford. He fails the HIA during the half-time break and is ruled out.

39 min: Mark Nawaqanitawase makes 25 metres down the sideline and chips over the top for himself. He gets to the bouncing ball first in the in goal area but loses control and his legs slide over the dead ball line before he can ground it.

32 min: A brilliant cut-out pass by James Tedesco puts Daniel Tupou away and the winger grubbers back inside but Kurt Capewell is there to clean it up.

28 min: Victor Radley returns to the action having passed his HIA.
