A heavily backed cash cow bites the dust ahead of Round 3, but there's better news for a couple of other money makers and a gun WFB.
Here's everything Fantasy coaches need to know following the reveal of the Round 3 NRL Telstra Premiership team lists on Tuesday.
NRL Fantasy teams analysis: Round 3
Storm v Panthers, Thursday at AAMI Park
Storm: Melbourne's two 70-point backs from Round 1 – Ryan Papenhuyzen and Nick Meaney – are named to go again, with Papenhuyzen particularly good value at $562k. A 40 in week one for Harry Grant means he's already dropped in price by $19k, and with a break even of 64 he's a good chance of being even cheaper ahead of Round 4. Cameron Munster currently sits in a touch over 13 percent of teams and appears good value at $597k.
Panthers: A groin injury for Dylan Edwards means Daine Laurie gets a rare run at fullback. While he's not a good option for Classic players, Laurie is a handy pick up in Draft leagues for the time being and on his day is a capable scorer, as displayed by his Round 1 score of 50. I don't expect Isaah Yeo to score as low as last week's 30 again all year if he stays healthy, so owners need not panic. Young HLF Jack Cole meanwhile is proving a slow burn as a money maker and his break even (15 this week) is creeping up already.

Warriors v Roosters, Friday at Go Media Stadium
Warriors: Those who stuck with Luke Metcalf after his underwhelming season debut were rewarded with a 64-point showing last week against Manly which has set him up to make money again in Round 3. Wayde Egan is playing really well to start 2025 and currently sits behind only Connor Watson in terms of the top scoring HOKs in the game, with his $613k price tag a steal if he can keep this up long term. Mitch Barnett got through 10 minutes more last week than he did in Round 1 but still only managed a 41, which is a bit of a concern for his owners.
Roosters: The game's two big CTR cash cows, Robert Toia and Mark Nawaqanitawase, are continuing to make some nice money. In the case of Toia, he has a -7 break even that he should crush again in Round 3. Connor Watson is still underpriced despite last week's round-topping 90 points, and with a break even of 21 he will shoot up again next week. Two tries in two weeks have helped ensure HLF Sandon Smith is averaging in the mid 40s, while fellow popular cheapie Naufahu Whyte (MID/EDG, $456k) is tracking nicely as a money maker too, although the return of Spencer Leniu, Lindsay Collins and Victor Radley this week might change that.

Broncos v Cowboys, Friday at Suncorp Stadium
Broncos: Fantasy-relevant CTR Kotoni Staggs (quad) is nearing an ahead-of-schedule return after being included in the reserves for this week, but for the time being Gehamat Shibasaki keeps a spot. The $349k cheapie fell back to earth last week following his 54 in Round 1, but if he can get another start then there might still be a bit more money to squeeze out of him. Payne Haas is continuing to do Payne Haas things and across the opening fortnight he boasts an insane 83-point average. The same 17 that went down to the Raiders last week will be rolled out again, with Fantasy eyes fixated on Reece Walsh following that abysmal -1 last up.
Cowboys: Potential cash cow Thomas Duffy appears to have paid the price for the club's 0-2 start and is listed among the reserves this week with Jake Clifford at No.7. Jeremiah Nanai returns after a week spent in Queensland Cup, but for Fantasy purposes his place on the bench makes him a sell if you still have him in Classic leagues. He's worth holding in Draft though. A handy 37-point debut for Kai O'Donnell means he's well positioned to make money this week after being named to start again. John Bateman fell back to earth with a 39 in Round 2, but at $607k he still looks an underpriced potential EDG keeper.

Sharks v Rabbitohs, Saturday at Sharks Stadium
Sharks: A mammoth 12 line breaks and two tries last week saw Kayal Iro power to 75 points, which made him one of the PODs of the round given his 1.9 percent ownership. While he's not going to average in the 70s, Iro ($636k) showed last year that he is a very good Fantasy CTR on his day. Nicho Hynes bounced back from a slow start to the year to score 64 last week, but at $738k he remains a definite stay away for the time being, with Braydon Trindall simply taking too many points away from him on a consistent basis for Hynes to be considered an elite HLF. Addin Fonua-Blake's drop to 36 points was hugely concerning, but if you own him you may as well stick with him and see if it comes right in the next few weeks. On his day he's still one of the best MIDs around.
Rabbitohs: Jamie Humphreys is officially a certified prize cash cow. The young HLF registered his second-straight score in the 70s last week to take his earnings through two rounds to $138k and reset his break even at -15. If you haven't jumped on him yet there's still time and he looks like being well worth the investment. HOK Peter Mamouzelos also helped his chances of becoming a proper money maker with a 60 that was helped along by a try, while Jye Gray continues to be a nice early season point of difference after busting out a 53 for the second game in a row. Lachlan Hubner's two-game ban (which opens the door for Tallis Duncan to get a start at lock this week) is a blow, but he's well worth holding onto given his break even sits at -4.

Dolphins v Wests Tigers, Saturday at Kayo Stadium
Dolphins: Isaiya Katoa is tracking to be a cut-price borderline keeper in the halves after following up a Round 1 49 with 73 last week, with his selection in less than three percent of teams making him an interesting option. Tom Gilbert lost a bunch of defensive workload in Round 2 which saw his score drop off, but at $553k and with DPP status as both a MID and EDG, he's still potentially very good value. Kulikefu Finefeuiaki has been included in the reserves and could make a return to the pack at the expense of Oryn Keeley.
Wests Tigers: Terrell May is an absolute machine who is managing to score well over a point a minute in his lengthy stints in the middle for the Wests Tigers. Given he is almost $150k cheaper than Payne Haas still, May is close to a must have, especially given he isn't on the Origin radar at this stage either. $290k CTR Star To'a had 56 last week, and while 13 of those points came from a try and an assist, he might be a decent depth pick up at that price.

Titans v Knights, Saturday at Cbus Super Stadium
Titans: CTR listed back-rower Beau Fermor's 69, which came without him scoring a try, will have caught the eye of plenty of Fantasy coaches last week, while up front Tino Fa'asuamaleaui (MID, $722k) had a 75 which still would have been a low 60s score without his try and line break. A 32 for AJ Brimson wasn't what his owners were expecting following a move into the halves, while David Fifita's 23 off the bench was a disaster for those who took the risk and picked him up anyway.
Knights: There's a good chance this will be the last time Kalyn Ponga is available for <$800k, with the in-form No.1 averaging 72 points to sit at the top of the WFB pyramid. In general Newcastle playmakers and backs are a great option in Fantasy right now, with both Fletcher Sharpe (WFB/HLF, $599k) and Greg Marzhew (WFB, $544k) averaging in the 60s so far. HOK Phoenix Crossland is doing enough to tick over some cash gains each week and has a very reachable break even of 19 in Round 3.

Eels v Bulldogs, Sunday at CommBank Stadium
Eels: Ronald Volkman has been punted following the club suffering heavy defeats in each of their opening two games, which opens the door for Dean Hawkins, who averaged in the low 30s across eight games for the Rabbitohs last year, to get a run in the halves. Isaiah Iongi, the game's third most owned player, has reached a tipping point already in 2025 and unless he can drastically improve on his 22.5 point average to date then he's set to lose money after this weekend. J'maine Hopgood is showing enough to suggest he's a keeper this year thanks to his dual EDG and MID status, while rookie HOK Ryley Smith has set himself up for a price rise after registering 30 in Round 2.
Bulldogs: Playmaker Matt Burton looks set to miss multiple weeks with a knee injury, which brings $332k MID Bailey Hayward into the halves. While Hayward's positional status means he's not an attractive option for me this week, Burton's absence could be good news for the scoring prospects of Toby Sexton, who has averaged in the high 30s through the first fortnight. Jacob Preston returned to normal service with a 53 against the Titans, while Jaeman Salmon scored a try to average just under a point a minute in an hour on the field. Increasingly popular cheapie Sitili Tupouniua (MID/EDG, $466k) gets a start in the back row.

Sea Eagles v Raiders, Sunday at 4 Pines Park
Sea Eagles: The sight of Tom Trbojevic in the No.1 jersey, following a hamstring issue which forced him from the field against the Warriors, is on one hand great news for his owners. However, Manly playing in the final game of the round creates some big issues. Assuming Trbojevic isn't ruled out or in until Sunday, his owners will be left with only Sea Eagles or Raiders players as potential replacements if he does fail to take the field. Also named is Daly Cherry-Evans (back), with the veteran HLF managing 43 before being forced from the field himself in Auckland. Jason Saab is in a real purple patch right now as part of that lethal Manly right edge and comes off a 56 in Round 2.
Raiders: Massive news for Savelio Tamale's owners, with the $368k CTR/WFB keeping his spot on the wing despite Xavier Savage's return, with Albert Hopoate the man to make way instead. Corey Horsburgh looks very much like being one of the bargains of the season for those who got him $550k ahead of Round 1. HOK Owen Pattie is a real prospect on the field, but his limited minutes mean that just isn't translating to him being a Fantasy money maker, with his break even of 25 this week unlikely to be reached. EDG Matty Nicholson ($501k) keeps a starting role after his spectacular two-try debut last week which spawned 82 Fantasy points.
