Former Panther Taylan May has signed a train and trial contract with the Wests Tigers that paves the way for his return to the NRL.
The outside back left Penrith last year due to an off-field issue however he has now been cleared to commence training with the Tigers after charges were dropped by police earlier this year.
May will begin training immediately and will become available for selection should training and off-field standards be met. The deal runs through to the end of this season.
Wests Tigers CEO Shane Richardson said May has grown considerably off the field and earned a second chance as a player.
“Clearly, Taylan is a quality player who will further strengthen our squad in the back end of the competition,” Richardson said. “But we also believe his best chance of success on and off the field is if he is around family and friends.
“He will now have the chance to not only return to a team environment but also to play alongside his brother Terrell – which is important to him.”
The deal comes on the back of last week's recruitment of Newcastle forward Kai Pearce-Paul on a three-year deal.
The English international will join the club next season on a contract that runs to the end of 2028.
Pearce-Paul has emerged as a powerful edge forward since moving from Wigan to Newcastle at the start of last season and he will provide added firepower up front for the Tigers.
"Kai is a powerful, mobile forward who really suits what we’re building here," coach Benji Marshall said.
"He’s not only a great athlete but also a great person, and he’ll bring strong qualities to our team.
"I’m really looking forward to coaching him and seeing the impact he’ll have on our squad."
Meanwhile, the Eels have locked down a pair of promising youngsters on upgraded deals.
Back-rowers William Latu and Jezaiah Funa-luta have each signed contracts that will see them progress from the Development Squad to the Top 30 in 2027.
The Titans have signed hard-working Bulldogs middle forward Kurtis Morrin for the next two seasons.
The 25-year-old is excited for the opportunity the Gold Coast club has presented.
"My strengths are that I play with a lot of passion. I just want to prove myself to the team and the fans," Morrin said.
"I want to prove I'm a hard worker and can be trusted on the field and earn my minutes. I've got a hard work mentality."
Making his NRL debut in 2022, Morrin has played 43 games for the Bulldogs - predominantly as an impact player off the interchange bench.
The versatile forward wore the No.13 jumper for the Maori All Stars this season, playing alongside Titans fullback Keano Kini.
"It'll be great meeting the whole squad, especially Tino," Morrin said. "I'm excited to play alongside them."
The Titans have locked in homegrown talent Jaylan De Groot until at least the end of 2027.
A product of the club's Future Titans system - the Cudgen Hornets junior played a vital role in title success at both Palm Beach Currumbin State High School and Tweed Seagulls, before transitioning to the Titans' full-time system in 2023.
The 22-year-old made his NRL debut last season and has gone on to play a further eight games in 2025 thus far - impressing at fullback in place of injured No.1 Keano Kini, who also recently re-signed.
Having also shown his ability to play in the outside backs, De Groot is proud to call the Gold Coast home for a further two seasons.
"What we're building here at the Titans is something I want to be part of," he said.
"To be able to stay home with my family and my partner and grow on the success we want to achieve here is why I wanted to extend my time here at the club."
Meanwhile, Kini will call the Gold Coast home long-term after signing a contract extension with the Titans until 2030.
Kini is the reigning Paul Broughton Medallist, having taken the honour after an outstanding 2024 season where he cemented himself as the club’s starting fullback.
The incumbent New Zealand No.1 finished his schooling on the Gold Coast at Palm Beach Currumbin State High School, before moving through the Titans pathways programs, eventually making his NRL debut in 2023.
Already signed until 2026, Kini will remain at the Titans until at least the end of the 2030 season.
The Cowboys have announced two-year contract extensions with starting centre pairing Zac Laybutt and Viliami Vailea, running through the 2027 season.
Laybutt made his NRL debut in Round 13 of the 2023 season and secured a spot in the Cowboys’ Round 1 side the following season, scoring three tries in four games before an ACL injury in Round 5 cruelly ended his campaign.
The 23-year-old PNG Kumul returned to the NRL in Round 11 of this season.
Vailea joined the Cowboys from the Warriors prior to the 2024 season and while he is still just 22-years-old, Vailea is in his fifth NRL season and has appeared in 28 Cowboys games over the course of a season and a half.
The Bulldogs have announced the signing of former Wests Tigers five-eighth Lachlan Galvin effective immediately.
Galvin and the Tigers mutually agreed to an immediate conclusion of his playing contract earlier on Friday before the Bulldogs confirmed the 19-year-old was headed to Belmore.
Galvin has signed with the ladder leading Bulldogs until the end of the 2028 season.
Since making his debut in Round 2, 2024 Galvin has played 31 NRL games and has notched up a total of 24 try assists, while also averaging over 120 running metres per game.
Meanwhile, Kiwis fullback Keano Kini will call the Gold Coast home long-term after signing a contract extension with the Titans until 2030.
The Raiders have also moved to secure one of their young guns, with Noah Martin earning a two-year extension.
The 20-year-old was already signed until 2026, but the new deal will see him remain in Canberra through to the end of the 2028 season.
After progressing through the Raiders junior pathways, Martin made his NRL debut in last week's win over the Warriors and he's eager to become a regular in the top flight in the coming months.
“To come into the Raiders at a young age and work my way through the grades has been great,” Martin said.
“My dad is a big Raiders fan, and he was pushing me to try out for the Raiders when I was 13. I was able to make the Harold Matts team and go from there.
“It’s very exciting to re-sign, and I’m just keen to keep on ripping in with the boys and see where the next three years take me.”
The Eels have activated the option for Josh Addo-Carr to remain at the club for an additional year through to the end of the 2026 season.
Addo-Carr made his club debut in Round 3 this year and has quickly become a fan favourite with seven tries in nine games.
“The coaching staff have been impressed with his leadership on the field particularly with our younger players. His passion and personality have had a positive effect across the organisation, and we’re happy to have him with us for another season,” said Eels general manager of football Mark O'Neill.
The Melbourne Storm have signed promising forward Josiah Pahulu on a two-year deal after he was granted a release by the Titans.
The Titans' 2024 Rookie of the Year, Pahulu has chalked up 22 NRL appearances since debuting in Round 5 last year against the Cowboys.
“Josiah is a talented young footballer and an impressive individual,” said Storm football manger Frank Ponissi said.
"He’s a dynamic young forward who has already shown impressive potential early
in his NRL career. We’re confident he’ll make a strong impact and be a valuable
addition to the talented group of emerging middle forwards in our squad and
coming through our pathways program."
The 21-year-old will join the Storm with immediate effect and will commence training with the team this week.
Wests Tigers have announced that forward Tony Sukkar has extended his stay with the club until the end of the 2026 season.
The 21-year-old local junior has made four NRL appearances since debuting in the last match of the club’s 2024 campaign as an NRL Development player.
The second rower joined the Wests Tigers top 30 squad this season and has proven a handful in his three top grade appearances to date in 2025.
The Rabbitohs have secured the services of Storm hooker Bronson Garlick on a two-year deal from 2026.
Garlick, 29, has played 33 NRL games since making his debut for the Melbourne in the opening round of the 2023 season.
A South Sydney junior from the South Eastern Seagulls club, Bronson is the son of former Rabbitoh Sean Garlick, who played 96 games for the club in two stints during the 1990s.
"Bronson has been a bit of a journeyman over his career but he has found his way back home to the Rabbitohs for the next two years and we could not be happier to have him coming home,” said Rabbitohs head of recruitment and retention,
“He brings over 150 games of senior football experience to us and can play hooker, second row or middle, so he also gives us versatility."
Warriors young guns Leka Halasima and Jacob Laban have inked long-term contract extensions through to the end of the 2029 season.
At 19, barnstorming back-rower Halasima is making a huge impression in his second season in the top grade while 21-year Laban is bringing plenty of impact off the bench.
“Signing Leka and Jacob on long-term deals is a really significant moment for us,” said Warriors general manager recruitment, pathways and development Andrew McFadden.
“It reinforces what we are working towards in making this a development club, building it around players we are bringing through from the local game.
“Leka and Jacob are terrific examples of the talent in New Zealand while also showing off the opportunities available through our pathways.”
Warriors outside back Moala Graham-Taufa has signed with South Sydney for the 2026 season.
Graham-Taufa, 23, has played four NRL games since making his NRL debut for the Roosters against the Rabbitohs in round 24, 2021. Graham-Taufa joined the Warriors in 2023, going on to win their NSW Cup Player of the Year and Players’ Player awards in 2024
The Eels have announced the re-signing of centre Will Penisini, forwards Sam Tuivaiti and Toni Mataele and playmaker Ronald Volkman.
Now in his fifth season in the NRL, Penisini is closing in on 100 NRL games, with general manager of football Mark O'Neill describing him as "a class act on and off the field".
Penisini, Mataele and Volkman have re-signed until the end of 2026 while Tuivaiti has extended his contract through to 2027.
The Raiders, meanwhile, have re-signed hooker Tom Starling through until the end of the 2027 season.
Starling has played 118 matches for the Raiders since making his club debut in 2019 and has started in all 10 games so far this season.
“It’s the club I want to be at. It’s where my NRL career started and I’m very happy to be here for another two years and keep building on what we’ve got rolling here,” Starling said. “I think the team is playing well at the moment, which is allowing me to play well.
“It’s been a different role for me this year, starting, and I just wanted to go out there and prove I could do it week in, week out and be a regular starter.”
Meanwhile, Kiwis hooker Brandon Smith is set to make his comeback from injury with the Rabbitohs after being released immediately by the Roosters.
Smith had already signed with South Sydney for the 2026 and 2027 seasons but will now join the Rabbitohs this week in preparation for his return to the field after suffering an ACL injury last year.
Smith has played 148 NRL games since making his NRL debut for the Storm in 2017, scoring 27 tries so far in his career.
The 28-year-old won an NRL premiership with the Storm in 2020, played in another NRL grand final in 2018, was part of the Storm’s premiership-winning squad in 2017 and won a World Club Challenge title in 2018.
He has played 13 Tests for New Zealand, and has represented the Maori All
Stars on three occasions.
The Sea Eagles, meanwhile, have announced the signing of playmaker Jamal Fogarty on a three-year deal from 2026.
The 31-year-old Queenslander will move from Canberra to Manly at the end of the 2025 season.
“Jamal is a good person and he’s an elite footy player," said Sea Eagles coach Anthony Seibold.
“We look forward to welcoming Jamal and his family to our club at the end of this season."
Knights workhorse Mat Croker has signed a two-year extension to remain at the club through to the end of the 2027 season.
The Taree junior progressed through the Newcastle junior representative pathway before making his NRL debut in 2021. He has featured in every game so far this season and has developed into a key cog in the side's forward rotation.
“We understand the interest from other clubs, and we are delighted he chose to stay with the Knights," Newcastle recruitment boss Peter O'Sullivan said.
“Mat can cover all three roles in the pack, bringing great balance and versatility to our squad.
“At his age and experience, the next three years of his career will be his best and we believe he will continue his development as a genuine NRL player.”
The Dragons have locked down young gun Lyhkan King-Togia for the next two seasons in a major boost to their playmaking stocks.
The contract extension will see King-Togia join the top-30 squad for the next two years and he will remain with the club until the end of the 2027 campaign.
The 19-year-old made his debut late last year and St George Illawarra coach Shane Flanagan is confident he will develop into a long-term halfback or five-eighth in the NRL.
"Locking down Lyhkan for another couple of seasons is exciting for the club," Flanagan said.
"He got a taste of first grade at the end of last year and has been playing good footy to start this season for our NSW Cup team.
"He’s an exciting young half on the up and we’re looking forward to watching him continue to improve over the coming seasons."
The Dragons have announced the immediate retirement of Tom Eisenhuth after he experienced lingering concussion symptoms after a head knock in the 2025 pre-season, with a recurrence of symptoms on his return to the field in Round 5 of the NSW Cup.
“This is a health decision based on putting my family first,” Eisenhuth said.
“There’s a lot of life after football. I want to be able to make the most of that and spend that time with my family.
“I’d like to take this opportunity to thank the club, the coaching staff, all my teammates and everyone in rugby league who’s helped me out over the years.
Eisenhuth finishes his NRL career with 83 appearances for the Panthers, Storm and Dragons. His 2024 season in the Red V included career-highs in tackles (908), run metres (1613), and offloads (23).
The Sharks, meanwhile, have re-signed youngsters Niwhai Puru and Chris Vea'ila until the end of 2026.
Playmaker Puru, 23, and outside back Vea'ila, 22, are pushing for NRL debuts after helping to propel Newtown to the 2024 NSW Cup title.
Hot on the heels of re-signing Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad the Warriors have snared the signature of boom English forward Morgan Gannon on a three-year deal through to the end of 2028.
The 21-year-old has made 59 Super League appearances and played for England Knights against Jamaica in 2021, alongside Knights second-rower Kai Pearce-Paul and Rabbitohs halfback Lewis Dodd.
Gannon's brother Jacob also plays in the Super League for Sam Burgess-coached Warrington Wolves.
His father Jim was a Newcastle junior who captained NSW U18s and played for Balmain Tigers in 1998 and 1999 before moving to the Super League.
“This is a great opportunity for me and one I had to take," Gannon said in a statement on Thursday. "I have spent time in Australia with my dad’s family, and I know how big the game is over there.
“I would like to thank the Rhinos for everything they have done to support me and the offer they made to me, this move is nothing to do with money, it is something I want to challenge myself with."
Warriors general manager recruitment, pathways and development Andrew McFadden described Gannon as a "quality young forward".
"We’re excited to add him to our roster for 2026 and beyond. Players out of the Super League are having a growing influence in the NRL and we see Morgan adding to that with us," McFadden said.
