NRL Late Mail: Round 27 - Crichton returns; Roosters turn to young guns

Bulldogs skipper Stephen Crichton will make his return from suspension in Saturday's crucial clash with the Cowboys as teams jostle for top-eight positions in the final round of the season.

See all the late mail, official team news and updates ahead of Round 25 of the 2024 NRL Telstra Premiership competition.

NRL Late Mail: Round 27

Broncos v Storm, Thursday 7.50pm at Suncorp Stadium

Broncos: Brisbane will be without Payne Haas for the final game of the season as he continues to battle a foot injury. Jaiyden Hunt will make his return from hand surgery in place of the injured Brendan Piakura. A quad injury to Kotoni Staggs has also triggered a backline reshuffle with Selwyn Cobbo moving to the centres and veteran Corey Oates coming into the wing for his first match since Round 22.

Storm: Coach Craig Bellamy revealed on Wednesday morning that Christian Welch is in doubt as he battles a back injury, with a final decision to be made closer to kick off. Origin winger Xavier Coates completed training on Wednesday as he looks to play his first game since Round 17, with Bellamy to leave the final decision up to medical staff. A week after resting 11 players, Melbourne welcome back a host of big names for the clash. Ryan Papenhuyzen, however, will miss the match with a leg injury, with emerging talent Sua Faalogo to line up at fullback.
