The nightmare that is late-season restings has begun and a couple of highly owned players are among the stars who'll be sitting out Round 26.

Payne Haas and Nicho Hynes meanwhile are in the frame to return to the field this week and while they aren't players to consider moving for, if they play it'll likely have negative flow-on effects for other players in their teams.

NRL Fantasy teams analysis: Round 26

Cowboys v Storm, Thursday at Queensland Country Bank Stadium

Cowboys: Back-rower Jeremiah Nanai (EDG, $559k) returns from injury, along with veteran forward Jason Taumalolo. If you think Jake Clifford can get somewhere near his effort in Round 24, in which he scored 84 points in 80 minutes, then he's a serious POD who is currently owned by 0.2 percent of teams. Both Valentine Holmes and Scott Drinkwater are in good form with L3 averages of 57.7 and 56.7 respectively.

Storm: With the minor premiership already wrapped up, Craig Bellamy has opted to rest a bunch of frontline stars this week and there's a good chance the rest get sat down next week too. Both of their most popular Fantasy players, Harry Grant (27.79) percent ownership and Jahrome Hughes (18.56 percent ownership) are out, along with popular EDG Eli Katoa. It's good news for those who still own Tyran Wishart though, with the $522k HLF/WFB named to start at hooker.

Bulldogs v Sea Eagles, Friday at Accor Stadium

Bulldogs: Stephen Crichton will serve only one match through suspension, but if you're playing in a head-to-head finals match this week then he may be a sell anyway, unless you can still find a way to field two CTRs. Matt Burton is killing it for owners right now and he's a really nice point of difference who is sitting in under eight percent of teams still. HOK Reed Mahoney's scoring picked up slightly last week to see him hit 40, but you're feeling very nervous right now if you're relying on him.

Sea Eagles: Ben Trbojevic is named to start in the second row after scoring a modest 22 in 59 minutes, while his brother Tom will be a big trade target ahead of Round 26 thanks to a last-up 91, which topped the round last week. An almost complete lack of attacking stats saw Daly Cherry-Evans fall to a season-low 27, but his form guide before that suggests he can bounce back to elite scores.

Panthers v Rabbitohs, Friday at BlueBet Stadium

Panthers: Isaah Yeo is projected to score only 61 points this week, but he should be the frontrunner among captaincy choices after compiling back-to-back 80s. Rookie CTR Casey McLean, who had been a popular pick up in recent weeks to sit in just under 10 percent of all teams, has been dropped in favour of Paul Alamoti. Sunia Turuva also returns for Daine Laurie. Cheapie Mavrik Geyer is on the bench and shouldn't be in your scoring 17 if at all possible.

Rabbitohs: Their top Fantasy player, Cameron Murray, has been named pending the outcome of Tuesday night's Judiciary hearing. If he ends up being suspended then Keaon Koloamatangi is likely to be the big winner, with a move back to lock, where his best scoring has been done this year, appearing likely. Outside of Murray's 71, no Bunnies player managed to go over 45 last week.

Eels v Dragons, Saturday at CommBank Stadium

Eels: Brendan Hands continued to toy with our emotions by scoring 45 in Round 25, after managing a measly six the week earlier despite playing 49 minutes. Speaking of bouncing back from embarrassing scores, Blaize Talagi restored some faith with a 33 after scoring two the week before. Joe Ofahengaue got through a season-high 67 minutes last week and had 70 points to show for it, thanks in part to a try. While he probably won't reach those heights again, if he maintains similar minutes then he's a possible cash down option if you're moving off someone like Jahrome Hughes or Harry Grant this week.

Dragons: It was a round to forget for the Red V in Fantasy, with not a single player reaching 50 points. The player that got closest to it, Jacob Liddle with a 49, continues to be a very good HOK for those who picked him up when he was cheap. Zac Lomax owners will be hoping for a big game from the CTR/WFB against the club he'll play for in 2025.

Dolphins v Broncos, Saturday at Suncorp Stadium

Dolphins: Neither Kodi Nikorima or Jesse Bromwich, who are missing due to concussion, are Fantasy relevant, and given they could both return next week their replacements for Round 26 aren't either. Herbie Farnworth continues to perform and has a L3 average of 64.7. Max Plath (HLF/MID, $749k) is named to start at hooker but could end up moving if Jeremy Marshall-King, who is included in the reserves, comes back. Either way Plath is likely to play a prominent role and score well.

Broncos: Payne Haas has been included in the wider reserves as he works his way back from a foot injury. He's not a player you should be moving for at this point of the season, but his possible participation this week is worth watching if you own Patrick Carrigan, given he scores better without Haas in the team. Tristan Sailor (WFB, $323k) will go again at fullback after scoring 55 last week, while Selwyn Cobbo keeps his spot too.

Sharks v Warriors, Saturday at PointsBet Stadium

Sharks: Nicho Hynes is in the frame to return after being named in the wider reserves. Similar to Payne Haas, he isn't someone you should be looking to trade in, but his possible return will have an impact on others like Braydon Trindall and Daniel Atkinson. Highly-owned CTR Kayal Iro returned from a week out with illness to register 67, putting him just behind teammate Briton Nikora who had 69. Cameron McInnes had huge minutes shaved off last week due to a couple of positional shuffles and he could be an immediate sell after managing only 33 points.

Warriors: It's the last game the Warriors will play this season, so coaches who own any of their top-level players need to preserve trades to get rid of those red dots after Round 26. In the meantime Addin Fonua-Blake is a decent shout as a captaincy choice this week and he could be in for a big performance against the club he'll join in 2025. Taine Tuaupiki gets a run at fullback with Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad moving to the centres to replace the injured Roger Tuivasa-Sheck.

Knights v Titans, Sunday at McDonald Jones Stadium

Knights: Kalyn Ponga popped again in Round 25 and had 72 points to show for it, which didn't even include a try. He's an extremely high risk WFB this year, but he's also a player than can very easily reach 60s or 70s on his day. Jack Cogger scored two tries in his starting role last up and while he's not likely to reach 68 again for the next two weeks, at $415k there's value in him as a cash down if you think he can get somewhere close to it. The return of Bradman Best from injury means Dylan Lucas moves back to the forwards (replacing Kai Pearce-Paul) where he should score well.

Titans: Outside of Alofiana Khan-Pereira (77 points) it wasn't an outstanding week for Titans players in Fantasy, but popular players Keano Kini (51) and Jayden Campbell (47) were still fine. David Fifita's incredible 2024 streak of 50+ games came to an end and his minutes were reduced against the Roosters, but there's no need to panic at all.  AJ Brimson's luckless run in 2024 continues and he's gone for the year now, with Phil Sami taking his spot in the centres.

Roosters v Raiders, Sunday at Allianz Stadium

Roosters: EDG Angus Crichton put a three-game stretch of <50 scores behind him with a three-try 75-point effort against the Titans last up. James Tedesco has dropped down a tier among WFBs after a 55 last week which puts his L3 average at 51, but he's still a perfectly good player to stick with from here. Nat Butcher keeps a starting role at lock.

Raiders: Tom Starling is named to start after being bumped back to the bench last week, but don't count on him actually running on for kick-off given Danny Levi is still there and they won in Round 25. Either way, you shouldn't still have him in your squad anyway given his huge drop off recently, and if you're stuck with him then try not to have him in your scoring 17. Joseph Tapine lodged his fifth score over 60 for the year against the Panthers, racking up 67 points in 58 minutes on the field.
