The Gold Coast's quest to go one better than last year got off to a winning start, with a hat-trick from winger Emily Bass helping them to an 18-10 victory over the Dragons.

The Titans dominated the whole game, chiefly off the back of a strong kicking game from halfback Lauren Brown, while full Evania Pelite also showed her class.

Wests Tigers had a first half to forget in their Round 1 loss to the Raiders, conceding 28 points before half-time. While they fought back in the second to go down 32-12, they will be putting most of their focus this week on not allowing the game to get away from them.

Team News

Titans: The calf injury to Karina Brown suffered in the Gold Coast's Round 1 win over the Dragons sees Rugby Sevens convert Georgia Grey called up to make her NRLW debut on the wing. Rilee Jorgensen moves into the starting second row in place of Zara Canfield, who fractured her thumb. Hailee-Jay Ormond-Maunsell is the other new name in the side for Round 2 on the bench. The Titans will start 1-17, with Georgia Sim the 18th player.

Wests Tigers: Coach Brett Kimmorley has opted not to make changes to his side that went down to the Raiders last week and will be hoping his players are ready from the get-go after they missed the start last week, giving up a 28-6 lead by half-time. Experienced backs Rikeya Horne and co-captain Botille Vette-Welsh scored the tries and will be back to help guide their team against first-round winners the Titans. Like the Gold Coast, the Wests Tigers have not made any changes prior to kick off, with Jessica Kennedy the 18th player.
