NRL Late Mail: Round 17 - Panthers rest Origin stars; Dragons won't risk Lomax

The Panthers and Cowboys won't have their Origin stars on deck, while Dragon Zac Lomax will also be rested in Round 17 as he nurses knee and shoulder issues.

The Roosters' four Origin representatives are all set to back up against Wests Tigers on Sunday.

Dragons v Dolphins, Sunday at Netstrata Jubilee Stadium

Dragons: Zac Lomax had fluid drained from his knee on the eve of his starring role in Origin II on Wednesday night and is also nursing a shoulder injury so he'll be rested with coach Shane Flanagan saying on Saturday they would err on the side of caution. Christian Tuipulotu comes in on the wing. Ben Hunt and Jaydn Su'A will both back up after playing for the Maroons on Wednesday night.

Dolphins: Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow (shoulder) will miss the clash after picking up an AC injury in Origin II, bringing Trai Fuller back into the side at fullback. Felise Kaufusi played just 10 minutes for the Maroons and will back up. Kurt Donoghoe has joined the bench with Ray Stone making way.

Panthers v Cowboys, Sunday at BlueBet Stadium

Panthers: Captain Isaah Yeo is the only Origin rep backing up after a raft of changes when the squad was trimmed 24 hours before kick-off. Daine Laurie replaces fullback Dylan Edwards, Casey McLean comes onto the wing for Brian To'o, Brad Scheider starts at halfback in place of Jarome Luai and Liam Henry steps in for second-rower Liam Martin. Mitch Kenny and Jack Cole will both return from quad injuries in a boost for the side.

Cowboys: All of the Cowboys Origin stars will also be rested from the game having initially been named among the reserves. Former Blues prop Jordan McLean (calf) will return in the middle.

Roosters v Wests Tigers, Sunday at Allianz Stadium

Roosters: No changes in Saturday's 24-hour update with Connor Watson, Spencer Leniu, Angus Crichton and Lindsay Collins all set to back up from Origin. Terrell May starts after playing the full 80 minutes last week. Ethan King and Siua Wong remained in the squad when it was trimmed to 19.

Wests Tigers: John Bateman is confirmed to return after five games out with a pectoral injury but Justin Olam (knee) remains sidelined. Heath Mason is the man to make way for Bateman. Prop David Klemmer is back from suspension while Reuben Porter holds his place on the edge with Alex Seyfarth on the bench.
