Star centre Herbie Farnworth has inked a contract extension with the Dolphins before flying to England to join new recruit Morgan Knowles in trying to bring down the Kangaroos in The Ashes.
Farnworth, who is regarded as one of the top outside backs in the NRL, has added another year to his current deal and will remain with the Brisbane-based club until at least the end of the 2027 season.
It is a huge play by Farnworth, who will now get ready to take on the Kangaroos in a three-Test series in the UK.
But the 25-year-old said upon considering his future, signing for the Dolphins was a simple call.
“This was an easy decision for me as I did not see myself going anywhere else,” Farnworth said.
"When I look at the roster the club has built for the Dolphins, I am so excited about what this team can achieve in the next couple of seasons.
“I believe we have the team to go with any other in the NRL and I can’t wait to see what we can do.”
Dolphins’ chief executive Terry Reader said Farnworth had demonstrated he was an elite player in the NRL and showed how important he was to the team.
“This is a huge announcement for us as Herbie is simply one of the best players in the game,” said Reader.
“I’ve got no doubt if he had finished the season off with us rather than getting injured, the Dolphins would have made the NRL finals.
“After three years of work on our recruitment strategy, we are really excited about the roster we have created for the next few years.
“Knowing Herbie has now recommitted to the Dolphins creates even more excitement for our members and fans.”
Farnworth will return to pre-season training in January after playing his part in the three Test Ashes series with Knowles.
The English forward will join Selwyn Cobbo and Penrith half Brad Schneider as new faces at the Dolphins next season.
Meanwhile, former Kangaroos prop Reagan Campbell-Gillard has been confirmed as the first big-name signing for the Darren Lockyer-owned London Broncos.
Campbell-Gillard, who has starred for the Penrith Panthers, Parramatta Eels, Gold Coast Titans and represented both Australia and New South Wales in State of Origin, was granted an early release by the Titans to join the London Broncos.
The addition of the World Cup winner marks a significant milestone in the Broncos’ journey to assemble a squad that can compete with the very best in the Super League.
While Lockyer awaits the outcome of the Broncos' licence application, the recruitment of Campbell-Gillard is a clear demonstration of intent and ambition.
It underscores the Broncos’ commitment to delivering a high-performance environment capable of inspiring supporters across the capital and competing with rugby league’s strongest clubs.
“London is an incredible city and the Broncos are a club with a proud history. The chance to help build something special here, at such an important moment for the game in the UK, was too good to turn down," Campbell-Gillard said.
At Manly, Aaron Schoupp has signed a one-year contract extension, which will see him remain at the club next season.
Schoupp, 24, joined Manly mid-season from the Titans in 2024 after making his NRL debut with the Bulldogs in 2021.
“We had agreed to a new contract before I did my knee (in Round 27), so I’m very grateful for the club to honour that,” Schoupp said.
“I truly believe I can get back to my best football at this club.
“I’ll be working as hard as I can in preseason so I can get back playing as soon as possible.
“I’m excited to repay the faith the club has shown in me.”
The Bulldogs have announced the contract extension of captain Stephen Crichton until the end of the 2031 season.
The three-time premiership winner has played 42 matches for the Bulldogs since arriving to the club in 2024 and has since guided the side to consecutive finals series appearances.
“I’m excited to stay here long-term, and grateful to be able to call myself a Bulldog,” Crichton said.
“Ever since I came to the club last year, it has felt like I belong here. I can’t thank Gus (Gould) and Ciro (Cameron Ciraldo) for everything they have done for me and my family."
The Sea Eagles have announced the signing of South Sydney prop, Davvy Moale on a three-year deal.
The club have announced the deal for the Cook Islands international is to commence in 2027.
Moale has played 70 first-grade games for the Rabbitohs over the past five seasons, making his NRL debut at the back end of 2021. He played all but one game for Souths in 2024 and made 16 appearances in 2025 before his season was cut short by a wrist injury against Manly in Round 18.
Titans 2025 rookie of the year Josh Patston has extended his time on the Gold Coast until the end of 2027.
Taking up a train-and-trial deal in 2025, he debuted in Round 15 before becoming a regular in the 17 each week to finish the season with eight appearances, scoring his maiden try against the Sharks.
From a train and trial contract in Round 15 to an NRL debut in Round 18 and a classic qualifying final against the Raiders, the 2025 season has been a whirlwind for Broncos forward Ben Talty.
Now 10 games into his first-grade career, the 26-year-old has been upgraded to a two-year contract extension with the top 30 squad for 2026 and '27.
“Extending my time here at the Broncos, it’s awesome that I keep getting to live this feeling and something I won’t take for granted,” said Talty.
“It’s something I’d never thought would happen, I just can’t describe what it means to me.”
Talty was a Knights junior and played more than 85 NSW Cup games for the Newcastle-based side and the North-Sydney Bears before getting his big break at Red Hill this year.
The club have also re-signed second rower Jaiyden Hunt on a one-year extension through to the end of the 2026 season.
The 27-year-old returned home to Brisbane in 2024, after a stint with the Dragons where he made 14 NRL appearances.
Since then, the backrower has played 17-games for the club.
Meanwhile, veteran prop Josh Papalii has officially re-signed with the Raiders for the 2026 season.
It caps off a huge year for Papalii who became the club's most-capped player when he played his 319th NRL match against the South Sydney Rabbitohs in June. He also received a recall to the Queensland Origin team for the decider, where he helped the Maroons to a series win.
“Canberra has been a massive part of my life for the last 16-17 years, and to extend for one more year is such an honour,” Papalii said. “I just want to keep performing and show people why I’m staying on for another year.”
Wests Tigers have announced the re-signing of centre Taylan May on a new two-year deal.
May, who joined the club in June on a train-and-trial deal, will now remain a Tiger until the end of the 2027 NRL season.
The Samoan international appeared in the final seven fixtures of the Wests Tigers 2025 campaign, for a return of four tries, three try assists and six line breaks.
Excited about the opportunity to further his career alongside his brother Terrell, Taylan was happy to extend his stay with the club.
“I’m grateful for the opportunity the Tigers have provided me and the belief and faith that Benji and the coaching staff have shown in me,” May said.
“I’ve been able to live out a dream to play in the NRL alongside my brother, it’s something that we’ll both remember for the rest of our lives. I’m excited for that to continue and remain part of this group."
Elsewhere, Englishman Lewis Dodd has been released from the final two years of his contract by the Rabbitohs to join Catalans.
