Any inaugural season brings its fair share of challenges, but the Cowboys will be far from content with their ninth-place finish last season.
The girls from Townsville will naturally grow closer as a club in 2024 with five flights trips throughout the season and will need to get better at winning on the road after taking home the points in just two of their away games last year.
Day-by-day breakdown
- Saturday: 5 games (3 home, 2 away)
- Sunday: 4 games (2 home, 2 away)
Turnaround time
- 5 days: 0 games
- 6 days: 3 games
- 7 days: 2 games
- 8+ days: 1 game
The Cowboys will be glad to see no five-day turnarounds on their schedule for 2024, but they will have three games with six-day turnarounds – all of which will require a flight back to Queensland Country Bank Stadium after playing away from home in Brisbane (Round 3 ahead of Round 4 and Round 6 ahead of Round 7) as well as on the Central Coast in Round 8 ahead of Round 9.
Opening month
- Round 1: v Sharks (A)
- Round 2: v Dragons (H)
- Round 3: v Eels (H)
- Round 4: v Titans (H)
The Cowboys will need to make the most of their opening month, meeting with just one of last year's finalists (Titans) in Round 4. Despite all four teams beating Ben Jeffries' side in 2023, the Cowboys will need to get some wins on the board while they enjoy two games in Townsville and one in Brisbane in the first month of the season.
NRL and NRLW Doubleheaders
The Cowboys will take part in five doubleheaders throughout the season, two of which will be played at Queensland Country Bank Stadium. Their Round 4 clash against the Titans will be sure to see a packed-out crowd as the Cowboys play alongside the men on Saturday afternoon before rounding out their season with a Raiders doubleheader in Round 5 an NRLW doubleheader in Round 9.
Can't miss game
Round 4 v Titans, Saturday at Queensland Country Bank Stadium (H)
With the rivalries growing stronger in Queensland, the Cowboys will need to make the most of their only home match against the Broncos or Titans. The occasion will be sure to life Ben Jeffries' side when they host the Gold Coast in Round 4 before the men clash with Canberra on August 17.
