Newcastle fullback Tamika Upton has capped a remarkable week by taking out the Karyn Murphy Medal as the player of the match in the NRLW grand final.

Just four days after being crowned the 2023 Dally M Medalist, Upton scored two tries and laid on two more as the Knights came from behind to beat the Titans 24-18 at Accor Stadium.

The back-to-back champions trailed 18-12 on the 60-minute mark before Upton produced two pieces of individual brilliance to draw her team level and then put them in front.

Upton has now played in four grand finals and won all four and becomes the first player in the premiership era to win back-t-o-back player of the match awards in the grand final.

Upton ran for 195 metres and had three tackle breaks to go with her tries and assists as she emulated Cowboys superstar Johnathan Thurston in 2015 by winning the Dally M Medal and grand final player of the match in the same season.

"I'd like to thank all the Newcastle fans who came out, incredible, and to all the Newcastle fans back home we love you and thank you for all your support," Upton said.

"To all the staff and the girls over there, you're incredible and I wouldn't want to do it with anyone else."
