A return to winning ways for the first time since Round 18 has seen the Rabbitohs jump up the NRL Power Rankings, while the Titans are big movers after upsetting the in-form Cowboys.
Following back-to-back losses sandwiched in between a bye, South Sydney sat down in 13th position in the rankings ahead of their 32-18 win over the bottom-placed Wests Tigers, but they’re now up to sixth in both the rankings and on the Telstra Premiership ladder.
The Titans meanwhile have gone up five spots in the rankings to 10th after a nine-point win over the Cowboys, who in suffering their first loss since the end of May have dropped down three spots to sit eighth, the same spot they occupy on the actual ladder.
The other big movers heading into Round 23 are the Sea Eagles, who got past a dogged Dragons side to give captain Daly Cherry-Evans a win in his 300th game.
Manly are up four to sit seventh, despite still lingering on the edge of the top eight on the ladder.
After a week in 10th spot the Roosters have slipped back to 14th, the position they occupied at the conclusion of Round 19, after being overrun by the Broncos 32-10 at The Gabba.
After copping a heavy 28-6 loss to the Knights, which was their second on the trot, the Raiders have slopped to ninth (down three places) in the rankings, four spots lower than where they sit on the ladder.
All tries from Canberra Raiders v Newcastle Knights
That’s the equal-biggest variation between rankings standing and ladder position this week, alongside the Knights, whose four-game winning streak has them up to 5th in the rankings, despite Adam O’Brien’s men being 9th on the ladder.
The Raiders and Sharks are the only current top eight teams currently sitting outside the top eight in the Power Rankings.
As is the case on the ladder, the Wests Tigers remain rooted to the bottom of the rankings this week.
