Despite resting all of their Origin players, Penrith proved their depth by powering their way past the Knights in Round 17 – dominating the VB Hard Earned Index Team of the Week as a result.
Led by stand-in captain Dylan Edwards, who once again pushed his claims towards an Origin debut with the highest score among all fullbacks, Ivan Cleary's Panthers had six players feature in the team, the most of any team in the bye-affected round.
Edwards was joined in the side by Izack Tago and Tyrone Peachey, who topped the scoring for all centres, while Scott Sorensen continued his good form in the back row – producing a 73-point effort bettered only by Storm star Nelson Asofa-Solomona, whose shift from the middle to an edge saw him score 77 points.
