NRL 2023, Team of the Week, Round 12, Panthers dominate

Penrith's classy and comfortable 15-4 win over the Broncos has seen five players secure their place in the Round 12 VB Hard Earned Index Team of the Week.

Headlined by Isaah Yeo's 102-point performance, the hard-running lock was joined by wingers Sunia Turuva (69 points) and Brian To'o (66 pints), halfback Nathan Cleary (92 points) and veteran second-rower Scott Sorensen (82 points) in the side which was the most players selected from any team this week.

Yeo was immense in both attack and defence in his side's Round 12 victory, in a performance at lock which included 17 carries, 11 over eight metres, eight decoy runs and 42 tackles to put the Panthers back on top of the ladder.

Having continued his superb start to the season, Edwards was also at his attacking best at fullback, with 25 carries of the ball – 17 of which went for more than eight metres – as well as 12 tackle busts and six line engagements.

Meanwhile, despite his side going down to the Panthers, Broncos forward Patrick Carrigan topped the round for index points with 116, in a performance which included an incredible 62 tackles, 16 carries with the ball and seven line engagements.

The only other Bronco to join Carrigan in Team of the Week was centre Herbie Farnworth (92 points), which included 26 carries of the ball and achieved hauls of eight metres or more in 17 of them, six tackle busts and two offloads.

Wests Tigers pair Staford To'a (69 points) and John Bateman (83 points) were impressive in their side's historical 66-18 win over the Cowboys, accounting for three tries, 25 hit ups and 46 tackles between them.

Meanwhile, the Eels' 36-16 upset over the Rabbitohs saw duo Dylan Brown (76 points) and J'maine Hopgood (88 points) feature in the Team of the Week with Brown engaging the line on 10 occasions and Hopgood laying 40 tackles.
