Broncos forward Pat Carrigan has already achieved plenty in the game, but until last night, had never sung the victory song after playing against Wests Tigers.

Since his debut match in Round 5 in 2019, the Tigers had proven to be a 'bogey side' for Brisbane, with his fellow forwards Payne Haas and Thomas Flegler all part of the young crew who had until now, fallen victim to the Tigers - who in the run-up to this match had won the past four games against the Broncos.

"They spoiled the party on the same round back in 2019, when I debuted, so that's good. It's a good feeling," Carrigan told NRL.com.

"It might have been a little extra motivation for me because I don't think myself or Payney or Flegs had beaten them yet, so there's a few of us there."

Last time the two sides met in Round 20 last season, the loss ultimately proved to be a truly costly one, with Carrigan also copping a four-game suspension for a 'hip drop' tackle, forcing him to sit on the sidelines as the Broncos then went on to lose four of their following five games to close their season, knocking them out of finals contention.

Last night however, Carrigan was in fine form, with his 19 runs producing 174 metres. He also had four offloads, including one that sparked one of Brisbane's eight entertaining tries.

Helping to lead a new-look Broncos that have a firmed mindset and have been dominating their start the season, the 46-12 win also meant the side have gone 5-0 to start their year, something the club had not achieved since 1998; which was a successful premiership year for the club.

While Carrigan said he was enjoying the start to the season so far, he said everyone at the club knew there was still plenty of work to be done.

"Everyone's really enjoying footy at the moment and it’s fun when you you are winning it, so am loving it," Carrigan said.

"But to be honest, Kevvy [coach Kevin Walters] and (the coaching staff) have been really good at just keeping us level-headed and when we do our reviews, they're pretty thorough and each week, we've all got stuff we got to work on and the coaching staff have been really good at that.

"It feels weird, we're winning, but it feels like each week we reset and get ready to go again.

"At the moment, there's a lot of noise about a couple of games that we have won in a row, but we know that we haven't really accomplished anything yet.

"It's a good building platform for us, but like I said, our reviews have been pretty honest and I think that's the best part of where we're at this year, literally each week is like a week-to-week basis.

Payne Haas does it all

"There's a lot of good teams in the NRL, it's a long season, so if we can keep getting a little bit better every week, then we'll be alright for the back end of the year.

"It's week by week and to be honest, I am just loving my footy and all the other boys are (but) we're constantly reminded ... that we haven't done anything in the game yet.

"(But) we’re building and there's a good crew here, and there's boys that want to get better and, it's a good feeling."
