From exceptional skill to unreal glory, here are the numbers that proved rugby league delivered in 2022 to maintain its status as the greatest game of all. 

With the NRL Telstra Premiership season back in full swing post COVID-19 and two NRLW competitions, two Origin series, a World Cup and the return of international rugby league, there was no bigger year for the code.

The numbers that mattered in 2022

1. Thousand and thirty-eight days – the time gap between the Warriors’ homecoming at Mt Smart Stadium – scenes that will never be forgotten as they returned to Auckland for the first time in over two years.

2. The lowest ladder position the Panthers dropped to all season, spending all but two weeks of the regular season on top of the NRL competition before going on to win their fourth premiership.

Munster the main man

4. The length of contract extension for Cameron Munster at the Storm, who knocked back the Dolphins by signing a new contract until at least the end of 2027.
