NRL Premiership winner and former Maroon and Kangaroo representative Scott Prince has been appointed new Broncos NRLW Head Coach.
And in a further expansion of the club’s focus on the women’s game, Brisbane’s inaugural NRLW title-winning mentor Paul Dyer has been handed an expanded role to oversee the club’s female football program.
Prince steps up to the head coach role after serving as assistant coach in the Broncos’ 2022 and 2018 NRLW campaigns, as well as being an assistant coach for the Indigenous All Stars in 2019. The 42-year-old was named Coach Of The Year in 2021 for the BHP Premiership after guiding his Valleys Diehards to a Minor Premiership and a spot in the Grand Final.
He moved into coaching after a highly decorated career on the field that featured 300 NRL games – including 50 for the Broncos from 2001-03 and 2013 – as well as four Tests for the Kangaroos and five State Of Origin appearances for Queensland.
The Mt Isa-born halfback was also awarded the Clive Churchill Medal in 2005 as he captained the Wests Tigers to a Grand Final win, as well being named Dally M Captain Of The Year in 2010.
Prince, who has been working at the Broncos since his retirement in 2013 with a focus on the club’s extensive community programs since 2016, said he was excited and honoured to be taking on the NRLW Head Coach role.
“I feel like the time is right for me personally as I have had a number of roles in the women’s game but nothing compares to the excitement I have about coaching the Brisbane Broncos NRLW side,” said Prince.
“The journey will be challenging, however with hard work, a proven coaching staff around me, and a committed squad of players, I know we can build a successful program.
I love working in the women’s game – the players have a genuine desire to learn and improve – and as coach, that’s all you can ask for.

Dyer – coach of the club’s inaugural NRLW-winning team in 2018 and a former Jillaroo Coach – will step up to take on an expanded role of Broncos Head of Game Development and NRLW in another major coup for Brisbane’s women’s football program.
Dyer said: “This is a really exciting day for me, the Broncos have been a huge part of my life and I am certainly very appreciative of the faith the club has shown in me to lead our NRLW and Game Development programs. I have had a long association with the women’s game, both as a head coach and administrator, with some of my closest relationships being formed through my time with the Jillaroos and Broncos NRLW program.
“Our NRLW program has had some wonderful success over the years, but we also recognise there are some areas that we need to improve.
I am looking forward to reconnecting with the playing group and working closely with Scott Prince and the rest of our staff to ensure we deliver a world class football program.

“Scott enjoyed a fantastic career as a player and has made some great strides as a coach over the past few years, I have no doubt he has all the tools to be a successful head coach in the NRLW.”
The Broncos are also in the process of recruiting a NRLW Operations & Programs Manager – another key appointment in the club’s the upgraded approach to success in the new 10-team NRLW competition for 2023.
Broncos CEO Dave Donaghy said: “We are excited that Scott and Paul have agreed to lead our NRLW program – both bring high levels of experience, knowledge and passion for both the women’s game and the Brisbane Broncos. We are making a significant investment in our NRLW program and we are looking forward to a bright future as the game grows with the competition expanding to 10 teams in 2023.”
