Season shapers: Bulldogs
Opening month
The Bulldogs face three away matches in the first four weeks of the 2023 season with a trip to 4 Pines Park for a clash against the Sea Eagles on March 4 before another away game to Melbourne's AAMI Park where the Storm will await. They'll return to Sydney and host their first home game at Belmore Sports Ground against Wests Tigers on March 19 but will be on the road again shortly after to New Zealand when they take on the Warriors.
Origin watch
Canterbury will have their first of three byes ahead of Origin I in Round 13 before taking on the Roosters four days after the series opener on the Central Coast. They'll take on Cronulla without their Origin contingent in Round 16 before another week off following Game Two of the series. They'll do similar again when they play the Rabbitohs prior to Origin III and then get ready to host the Broncos at Belmore Sports Ground to round out the representative period.
The run home
The Bulldogs' last bye will come in Round 23, giving them a four-week block leading into the finals. It will be a similar note to finish the way the season started with three away games in the last month. Canterbury will take on the Knights and Raiders in enemy territory before returning home against the Sea Eagles. They'll finish the regular season on the Gold Coast. with all four matches to be played on a Sunday afternoon in the final month.
And another thing...
The Bulldogs will have to wait until Round 22 to take on new NRL club the Dolphins with Bundaberg's Salter Oval to play host to the fixture on July 30. It will be the second time the venue has hosted an NRL match after recently doing so in the 2022 season between Canterbury and North Queensland.
