Season shapers: Broncos

Opening month

The Broncos have a daunting challenge first-up against premiers Penrith at BlueBet Stadium before clashes against the Cowboys and Dragons at home. They'll then meet the Dolphins in an historic match in Round 4, also at Suncorp Stadium.

Origin watch

The Broncos will travel to Napier in New Zealand to take on the Warriors prior to Origin I before clashing with the Sharks in a three-day turnaround for representative stars from the interstate clash. They'll be fresh to take on the Titans at Suncorp Stadium after receiving a bye in Round 16 and again the same in Round 20 when they travel to Belmore for a clash against the Bulldogs three days following Origin III.

The run home

The Broncos have their bye periods scheduled for later in the season before two final matches against the Raiders in Canberra and the Storm at Suncorp Stadium. Their month prior to their last bye in Round 25 will see them remain in Queensland but face stiff competition in the form of the Rabbitohs, Cowboys, Eels and Roosters.

And another thing...

For the first time in over 70 years, rugby league will return to the iconic Brisbane Cricket Ground (The Gabba) with the Broncos to host three matches against the Roosters, Eels and Dolphins in July and August due to Suncorp Stadium being used for the women's FIFA World Cup.
