The Canberra Raiders are thrilled to announce the appointment of Michael Maguire as the senior NRL consultant for the next two seasons.
Maguire, who is currently on duty with the New Zealand Kiwis as Coach at the Rugby League World Cup, will link up with the Raiders after the tournament concludes in preparation for the 2023 season.
A former Raiders player (Raider #144), assistant first grade coach at the club, and old boy of St Edmunds College, Maguire brings a wealth of experience back to Canberra, having coached over 300 games at the top level for Wigan (Super League), South Sydney and the Wests Tigers.
Maguire has tasted premiership success at Wigan in 2010, the UK Challenge Cup in 2011, and led the Rabbitohs to a premiership in 2014.
Raiders Coach Ricky Stuart said the appointment of Maguire was a huge coup for the Green Machine and he looked forward to having him on board for the next two seasons.
“Michael is a wonderful signing for our club and he brings valuable experience and knowledge to the role,” Stuart said. “He has a wonderful record as a coach at all levels of the game and we’re very fortunate to be able to secure someone of his calibre.
“I can’t wait to work with him and have him working alongside our coaching staff and playing group.”
