Parramatta's NRLW side has 151 reasons to believe they’re capable of completing a remarkable feat to win the title on Sunday after defying the odds to reach the decider.

The Eels were paying a whopping $151 to take out the NRLW grand final leading into their Round 5 clash against the Broncos just three weeks ago according to Sportsbet.

Their 0-4 record to start their second NRLW campaign turned many people off their premiership chances but the top four finals system and a flurry of results going their way gave them a simple equation in the final regular round.

They had to beat the Broncos on the Central Coast to set up a date with minor premiers the Roosters in the semi-finals, who they then upset at Suncorp Stadium on Sunday.

The competition’s ladder finishing this season complemented them greatly after they missed the finals on points differential despite two wins last season.

"That's been our motivation, we kind of got backed into a corner coming into the last regular game to turn the season around," Eels forward Kennedy Cherrington said.

"After the Titans loss [in Round 4] we had a really honest review and said we've seen glimpses of what we're capable of. It was always there but we were beating ourselves up.

"We went to training that week talking about how we had this weird opportunity in front of us where although we hadn't won a game, if we did our job against the Broncos things might fall into place.

"I hate saying we wanted it more because it shouldn't be like that but we turned up and no one expected us to put points on the Broncos. People thought we just scraped into the finals but I thought we deserved that win and the next one too."

The Eels will go into the NRLW decider still ranked outsiders, paying $2.39 for the win and $2.75 for the title as of Wednesday afternoon.

Newcastle got the result against the Eels in their Round 3 match by two points in a game that the blue and gold army could claim they were the better side for most of the contest.

"Whatever happens on the weekend happens but I'm just so proud of my team," Cherrington said.

"It's still us against the world. No one is backing us this weekend but the motivation is there and we've got nothing to lose. The only belief we have is from ourselves.

"When we see no one is backing us it just fuels the fire and there's no kicking back like our job is done. We want a ring and we know we can do it."

Should the Eels go on and stun the Knights it will be hard to beat for one of the biggest underdog stories in rugby league.
