Australian Rugby League Commission (ARLC) Chairman Mr Peter V’landys AM has congratulated Ray Warren on a remarkable career in broadcasting Rugby League.
Warren, an NRL Hall of Fame inductee, announced today he would be stepping away from live calling following a career spanning 55 years.
“Only one word comes to my mind and that is legend, I think it says it all. Rugby League today is much the poorer with his retirement,” Mr V’landys said.
“Ray was deservedly inducted into the NRL Hall of Fame, as one of our first ever contributors. A career which took him through Channel 9, Channel 10, Radio 2GB and Radio 2LF in Young will be forever celebrated and his voice will always be synonymous with Rugby League.
“I’m certainly pleased that Ray will continue to have a role with Wide World of Sports’ broadcasts, even if away from the microphone which he made his own.”
