NRL Judiciary Report: Blues duo face melee bans as 10 charged

NSW Blues forward Cameron Murray and non-playing squad member Haumole Olakau'atu are facing bans for their role in the Origin Three melee that has resulted in nine players being charged.

Murray is facing a two-game ban after he was hit with a Grade 3 Contrary Conduct charge for joining the melee from the interchange bench while Olakau'atu is also looking at a two-game ban for the same offence.

The ban will increase to three matches should they challenge the charge and be found guilty at the judiciary.

The other Blues players charged for their part in the melee were Brian To'o (Grade 2 Contrary Conduct), Payne Haas (Grade 1 Contrary Conduct) and 18th Man Matt Burton (Grade 1 Contrary Conduct).

Maroons players Jeremiah Nanai (Grade 2), Reuben Cotter (Grade 2), Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow (Grade 2) and Felise Kaufusi (Grade 1) all face fines for Contrary Conduct offences.

The melee occurred in the 31st minute of the decider with players from both teams coming together over the sideline at Suncorp Stadium.

Kurt Capewell has been charged over two other incidents during the Suncorp Stadium decider and is facing fines for a Grade 1 Dangerous Throw on Stephen Crichton and Grade 1 Dangerous Contact on Mitch Moses.
