Raiders veteran Josh Hodgson said Curtis Scott's welfare was his primary concern but wouldn't weigh in on the club's decision to part ways with the centre on Monday.
Hodgson fronted a Zoom media session on Tuesday to answer questions around Scott's sacking after he was charged earlier this month for an alleged assault on a patron at a nightclub in May.
Scott met with the Raiders board on August 17 before it was confirmed on Monday his contract would be terminated effective immediately for bringing the club into disrepute.
Scott took to Instagram on Monday night to express his anger towards the Raiders for "kicking me while I'm down" after details emerged through of a previous incident involving a former player several hours later.
"I opened up about extremely personal information regarding my mental health and current struggles," Scott wrote.

"I have just lost what feels like everything to me and I can't understand why Canberra has continued to kick me while I'm down and now leak in-house information that was dealt with over a year ago regarding a former player."
Hodgson, who was outspoken amid George Williams' nasty exit from the nation's capital in May, said the Scott situation was a "pretty disappointing" time for everyone involved.
"Curtis is such a good kid, as can be the case in sport and the world in general when you don't know somebody but only see what you can hear," Hodgson said.
"He's only a young man, he's still 23. You can sometimes forget that he's made some mistakes in his life, as we all have, but I'm the type of bloke who wouldn't spend too much time on people who don't deserve it.
"I'm sure he probably feels that way if that's what he wrote. You've got to understand 'Scotty' has been on his own for a long time in Canberra and away in Sydney and we've been up here [in Queensland].
"He really feels isolated and I guess that's why so many have been reaching out to him.
"There's a lot of people who care about Scotty. I think people need to tread very carefully before writing pieces on him until they know everything and know what he's like as a bloke.
"It's a very delicate subject. He's pretty down as you can imagine and doesn't really know what his future is going to look like.
Get Caught Up: Round 23 must-see moments
"We're all doing our best here and all the boys at the club. We've all just tried to check in on him and make sure he's OK."
Hodgson was reluctant to side with either the club or Scott on the decision to terminate his deal.
"I'd love to give you a headline but I'm not on the board," he said.
"For me and as a playing group, I'm just making sure he's alright.
"I'm not going to step outside my lane, I'm not part of the board or there for when they make decisions at the top.
"I'm a rugby league player, I'm not here to question them. Hopefully, he can get his career back on track and get a club for next year."
The Raiders require two wins in their final fortnight to remain in contention for a finals appearance starting with a clash against the Warriors on Friday night.
"The start of the year has put us in the position where we've fallen away from the pack," Hodgson said.
"By no shape or form would we be giving up. All we can do is try to win two from two and whatever happens from there is out of our hands."
