Player ratings for the Queensland Maroons team in their State of Origin II clash with the NSW Blues at Suncorp Stadium.
2. Valentine Holmes: Was Queensland's fourth-choice fullback and it showed. Had a good try saver on Brian To'o but threw the intercept for Latrell Mitchell's try. His ball-playing was ineffectual and work out of yardage was left wanting. 3
20. Xavier Coates: Caught out badly in lead-up to Tom Trbojevic's try with his edge leaking plenty of points. His struggles to get sets started and inability to bend the line – in stark comparison to the Blues' backs – were all too obvious. Had one golden chance to score but Trbojevic's try-saver was too good. 2.5
Turbo saves a certain try to Coates
3. Kurt Capewell: Has a role at this level but that role is not in the centres. Was up against it all night but can't be accused of dropping his head, lining up for tough carries all night and topping the metres for his side with 147. 5.5
4. Dane Gagai: Copped another bath at the hands of Rabbitohs teammate Mitchell. Missed a half-dozen tackles in the first quarter of the game and eight for the match as the Blues again targeted his edge. Showed plenty of desperation to come up with a couple of turnover tackles. 4.5

5. Kyle Feldt: Had his issues under the high ball at both ends of the field, starved of opportunities in attack, virtually unsighted on kick returns and a little too quick to wade into the argy-bargy. Dropped two tries over the line – one tough and one not so. A tough night. 2
6. Cameron Munster: Has to take some responsibility for a badly-malfunctioning Maroons left-side defence as well as the side's struggles to create anything from their occasional attacking set. Had a joint match-high eight missed tackles. 3
7. Daly Cherry-Evans: Allowed his frustrations to bubble over once NSW gained the early ascendancy. As the halfback and captain, his side's lack of direction particularly in attack has to fall at his feet. 4
8. Christian Welch: Bustling start but at times over-eager to offload and was bumped out of a few tackles. One of the few Maroons to bend the line, with his 132 the most metres of Queensland's pack but seven missed tackles is a worry. 6
9. Andrew McCullough: Steady service out of dummy half and solid defensively but unable to create much spark. Interchanged just past the half-hour mark finishing with 51 minutes. One of just two Maroons not to miss a tackle, making 33. 6
10. Josh Papalii: Brought badly-missed physicality to the early exchanges, eventually pumping out almost half an hour in his first spell and 55 minutes for the match. Made 35 tackles and missed none with just over 100 metres from his 10 runs. 6.5
11. Jai Arrow: In the first half hour he was clearly a man out of position on an edge, a spot he has almost never played at NRL level, and was caught out in the first NSW try. Improved once he went to the middle, but was better with the ball than without, coming up with some strong carries, nudging past 100 metres with three busts. 5.5
12. Felise Kaufusi: Came up with a couple of lazy efforts to help concede an eventual try to Trbojevic in the first half. Lost his battle with Jarome Luai for the second game running in what is turning into a forgettable series for the Storm stalwart. Topped the team tackles with 38. 4
13. Tino Fa'asuamaleaui: Slightly frantic start with an error and a couple of missed tackles. Tried to add some spark but easily contained by the NSW pack. Finished with 81 metres from nine carries in 41 minutes on field. 3.5
Interchange
14. Ben Hunt: Brought on at hooker six minutes before half-time and spent time as a loose forward. Looked as likely as any of the Maroons to create – although with his side held to nil, that still didn't eventuate. 5.5
15: Moeaki Fotuaika: Didn't have the same impact as in his impressive game one stint, finishing with 45 metres and 22 tackles in his 36 minutes on field. 4.5
16: David Fifita: Played out the game after coming on at the 28-minute mark but was largely anonymous. Well-handled by NSW on both sides of the ball with 17 tackles and just 73 metres from his 10 runs. 4.5
17: Francis Molo: Looked comfortable in his half-hour spell either side of half time, making 69 metres from eight runs and 17 tackles with three missed. 4
