Sharks centre Josh Dugan has been cleared of a serious neck injury after a training-ground collision on Friday resulted in the veteran being taken to hospital.
"Bit of a scare at training this morning, took ever [sic] precaution and thankfully got the all clear ... thank you for all the messages," Dugan posted to Twitter on Friday afternoon.
The 30-year-old went in an ambulance to Sutherland Hospital following the accident with a teammate during a scrimmage at PointsBet Stadium but was discharged early in the afternoon.
Cronulla took no chances with the off-contract veteran given his history of neck issues, but he is set to return to training next week.
"Josh has been training strongly throughout the summer and was also having a good day and a good session today until the mishap, so it is a big relief to all of us that it hasn't turned out to be a serious injury," coach John Morris said.
"I would also say, with potential injuries of this nature there can't be any shortcuts or risks taken and I was very impressed with the way our medical team immobilised Josh, stretchered him from the field and professionally handled the situation."
Graham: New faces bring fresh perspective
Dugan, who is preparing for his 13th NRL season, has played 207 games for Canberra, St George Illawarra and Cronulla.
He has previously spoken of wanting to extend his career past 2021.
