More than 100,000 participants across New South Wales Rugby League will benefit from the roll out of the game’s new Community Coaching Model launched this week.
Developed in conjunction with the NRL education team, the coaching model aims to help coaches retain and attract new participants to the game.
The result of the project was the development of new accreditation courses for community-based coaches, which includes age specific eLearning modules, a Face-to-Face Workshop, and a new Coaches Handbook.
NSWRL State Manager Peter Clarke said: “The community coaching model enhance the education process for our grassroots coaches from entry level to open age helping coaches create an enjoyable, friendly and safe team learning environment at training and on game day.
“Significantly, the course structure also offers a more streamlined process for our community mentors to hone their coaching skills and attain their accreditation.”
The content within the courses is designed to complement the player development framework and includes concussion awareness content for coaches.
