Penrith have confirmed centre Brent Naden has sought help for "a number of personal issues" following the completion of the 2020 season.
The Panthers released a statement on Monday afternoon confirming the 24-year-old had voluntarily entered a rehabilitation clinic in Sydney.
"Following the 2020 NRL grand final, Brent Naden approached the club and disclosed a number of personal issues he wished to address," the Panthers statement read.
"As a result, Brent is currently undertaking a voluntary rehabilitation program in a private Sydney facility.
"Brent, his family, his management and the club kindly ask the media to respect his privacy and will be making no further comment at this time."
Naden was subjected to a tirade of abuse during a match in August before receiving an apology from the perpetrators following a review into the incident.
He came off the bench in the NRL grand final following a late switch with Tyrone May and is signed to the club until the end of the 2021 Telstra Premiership season.
