Experts' view: Who'll win Origin game two?

With Queensland's shock win in the opening match of the 2020 Ampol State of Origin series still fresh, attention turns to Sydney and game two.

The Blues need to win on home soil to keep the series alive, while Queensland will be hoping for more of the same.

NSW were in the same situation last year before bouncing back to claim the series.

The experts at NRL.com have their say on whether Brad Fittler's team can get things in order and set up a series decider at Suncorp Stadium.

Experts' view

Steve Renouf (Maroons legend)

Wayne Bennett instilled great self-belief in his inexperienced Maroons team in game one. He will do the same in Sydney. I am sure he will bring them back down to earth quickly and get them mentally ready. Maroons by 2

Fittler throws support behind halves and centres

Jamie Soward (2010 premiership winner)

NSW have to be better defensively and attack the game rather than let Queensland get into the flow. When they get another chance to blow them away, they need to take it. Blues by 12

Alicia Newton (NRL.com reporter)

Expect a bounce-back reaction from the Blues or they can kiss the series goodbye. They’re still the better team on paper and if it clicks for the entire 80 minutes they’ll hard to stop. Blues by 10

Paul Suttor (NRL.com editor)

There's a sniff of 1995 about this series. Turbulent times produce tumultuous results and if NSW display the same level of complacency from the second half in Adelaide in the second game in Sydney, the Maroons will seal the series at ANZ Stadium. Maroons by 4

Dan Walsh (NRL.com reporter)

The shock loss will stiffen them up and remind them that their first 40 - through the middle, through Tedesco, Cook and rolling big men - is their best game plan. Whichever halves combo they go with should reflect that, while Wighton will also be out to atone for defensive lapses. Blues by 8

Mary Konstantopoulos (Ladies Who League)

While many were disappointed with the Blues performance on Wednesday, Brad Fittler has been criticised before and his team have risen to the occasion. The Blues still have the stronger of the two sides and the class will prevail. Blues by 8

Lone Scout (NRL.com Fantasy guru)

Like most, I got the game one prediction wrong, and can now see Queensland winning game three in Brisbane. But NSW should have enough talent to get the job done on home turf. Blues by 8

Brad Walter (NRL.com senior reporter)

The Blues had new backline combinations in Adelaide and a lot of players who hadn’t played for weeks so will be better for the run. They'll fix things where they need to. Blues by 4

Bennett heaps praise on young Maroons

Joel Gould (NRL.com reporter)

Queensland showed they have the self-belief, skill and determination to beat the Blues in game one. The eight debutants will only grow from that experience and with Cameron Munster and Daly Cherry-Evans calling the shots Queensland should prevail, just. Maroons by 4

Chris Kennedy (NRL.com reporter)

Like last year, the Blues will be stung by their opening loss and bounce back strongly in game two with a few changes. At home, NSW by 8.

Troy Whittaker (NRL.com reporter)

NSW will learn from their mistakes and overpower Queensland to set up a decider. A home crowd will help them. NSW by 10

Blues must use loss as 'attitude adjustment' says Fittler

Martin Lenehan (NRL.com senior journalist)

The Maroons will be riding high and they can wrap up the series in Sydney with Daly Cherry-Evans and Cameron Munster leading the way. The platform laid by Papalii, Felise Kaufusi, Tino Fa'asuamaleaui and Jaydn Su'A will allow the playmakers to dictate terms again. Maroons by 4

Zac Bailey (NRL.com reporter)

NSW will right the wrongs of Origin I and level the series on home soil. Regardless of the team changes the Blues will start fast and bring more energy in game two, and as long as they maintain it, they should save the series and set up a thriller in Brisbane. Blues by 14

Kenny Scott (NRL.com podcaster)

The Blues completely lost their way in game one and won’t let that happen again. The Maroons got a couple of lucky bounces and lucky calls which probably won’t be so forthcoming in front of a parochial Sydney crowd. Blues by 10

Game two tickets start from $45 for members and $49 for general public or get your wig and experience the Blatchy’s effect from $85 for members or $90 for the general public
