The NRL will review a potential minor procedural breach by the Melbourne Storm after they briefly fielded 14 players in the second half of Thursday's 24-6 win over the Sydney Roosters.

An NRL spokesman confirmed there is no chance of points being stripped, with a fine the likely penalty if a procedural breach is confirmed.

Storm winger Suliasi Vunivalu was forced off for a HIA in the 60th minute at the SCG and replaced by Nicho Hynes.

However, he returned to the fray as the Roosters found space as they attacked his edge, giving Melbourne an extra defender. With an overlap taken away, centre Brenko Lee shut down the play.

The Storm were coasting with a 24-0 lead when the incident occurred.

"It will be reviewed as a matter of course along with other operational aspects of the round on Monday," the NRL spokesperson said.

Vunivalu was on Friday confirmed to have fractured his jaw and will miss 4-6 weeks.
