The Storm are set to spend more than a month in Queensland after being told they will need to remain away from Melbourne for at least 28 days once the COVID-19 spike in the Victorian capital goes down.
Melbourne's players relocated to Sydney last Wednesday to prepare for Friday's clash with the Warriors at Kogarah, which was initially due to be played at AAMI Park.
They went further north to the Sunshine Coast after the match to prepare for this Thursday's home game against the Roosters, which will now be played at Brisbane's Suncorp Stadium due to biosecurity fears if they returned to Melbourne.
Storm veteran Dale Finucane on Monday said many of the players' partners and families had also made the trip north to be with the team.
NRL acting CEO Andrew Abdo addressed the squad on Sunday night and Finucane said they had not been given an end date for their stay in the Sunshine State but he was expecting to be away from home until at least August.
"I think given that the numbers are increasing in Victoria in terms of what's happening with the virus, it's not looking like any time soon," he said.
Storm forecast lengthy Queensland stay
Later on Monday it was announced by Queensland Health that the state government would require sporting teams to undergo 14-day quarantine periods if they play against a team from Victoria or that has been there in the past fortnight.
The restrictions won't affect the Storm while they're based in Queensland or the three permanent clubs from the state.
In team news, Storm five-eighth Cameron Munster is expected to miss 3-4 weeks after scans on Monday revealed he had suffered a grade two medial ligament injury against the Warriors.
