In a series analysing who will line up in each position for all 16 teams in the opening round of the Telstra Premiership in 2020, NRL.com looks at premiers Sydney Roosters.

NRL.com says: Latrell Mitchell's decision to leave the Roosters will result in changes in the backline. Youngster Billy Smith looked the heir apparent until an ACL injury, with Angus Crichton set to move into the centres after playing there in the World Club Challenge.

Kyle Flanagan takes over from Cooper Cronk, though he may be spared the pressure of the No.7 jersey with Luke Keary elevated.

Jamie Soward says: I think it's time to make the full-time switch to Sam Verrills as starting hooker. Jake Friend will probably get first crack and I'd keep him on the bench for now but Verrills is the future and Trent Robinson doesn't tend to want to play two hookers which means Lindsay Collins can come in as an extra forward.
