After working with him at the Roosters when he was an assistant coach, Justin Holbrook is certain Latrell Mitchell would be an ideal acquisition for the Gold Coast.
The Titans have reached out to Mitchell via head of culture and performance Mal Meninga and in the wake of the Wests Tigers pulling their offer to the 22-year-old on Thursday are now right in the frame as a possible home for the dual premiership winner.
In a recent interview with News Corp, Meninga was effusive in his praise of Mitchell and outlined how the Titans could help him fulfil his potential.
The Cowboys have met with Mitchell but have since signed Valentine Holmes on a six-year deal. Coach Paul Green said this week talks with Mitchell remained "ongoing".
Holbrook was not sure how the Titans would fit Mitchell into their salary cap for next year, at this stage.

Playing out behind the scenes is the future of Titans forward Jai Arrow who is off contract at the end of 2020. South Sydney are keen to sign Arrow and if they were to be successful, an early move to Redfern would free up funds on the Gold Coast for Mitchell.
The Titans have five vacancies in their top 30 squad and must decide how many eggs to put in the Mitchell basket. His asking price is understood to be in the vicinity of $1 million a season and he has expressed interest in switching from centre to fullback.
"We spoke about Latrell the other day. I am sure Mal has had a chat to Latrell. We all know what a great player he is so I am sure the club will follow it up and see if we can get an opportunity with him," Holbrook said on Thursday.
"He is a great player. He has proven that. He's played for Australia and won a couple of grand finals with the Roosters."
In the Titans' favour is the fact Holbrook worked closely with Mitchell when he was on the Roosters coaching staff.
"I was working at the Roosters as an assistant coach when he came through and played there so I know him well," he said.
"I had dealings with him nearly three years ago now and the maturity and way he played back then as an 18-year-old already to have the confidence to back himself over whoever he was playing was a great attribute for me to view.
"He is a great player in the game."
Mitchell is still contracted to the Roosters in 2020 but it has become clear he will have a new home next season.
While his contract saga has become a moveable feast for the media, Mitchell's former NSW teammate Tyrone Peachey is just hungry to play alongside him again after doing so last year at Origin level.

"He is an awesome player and I've seen that the Tigers have pulled out of it. Hopefully Mal Meninga can work his magic and get him up here," Peachey said.
"He's won two premierships back-to-back. He's played Origin and played for Australia. [Mitchell's home town] Taree is not too far down the road either. I'd love to see him up here.
"He is going through a bit at the moment. Hopefully something happens for him and he does get what he wants. If he does come up here it would be awesome for us. The new coach [Holbrook] had Latrell at the Roosters so he knows how he coaches."
