Clinton Schifcofske was born in northern Queensland. The goal-kicking fullback scored 1604 points in a career spanning 1996-2006 with South Queensland, Parramatta and Canberra. He represented the Maroons in two Origins.
1988
Aiden Tolman was born in Kempsey. The front-rower made his NRL debut in 2008 and played 53 matches for Melbourne before switching to Canterbury in 2011 and playing 222 games across 10 seasons, including the 2012 and 2014 grand finals. In 2021 the prop made the move to Cronulla.

Australian management fumes over their inability to cite Great Britain hooker Terry Newton for a high tackle on Craig Fitzgibbon, which left the Test forward concussed. Under series rules, the citing deadline is 30 minutes after the end of the match and video evidence of Newton's tackle is not made available until the deadline has expired.

Former Bulldogs and Brisbane utility Darren Smith is called into the Kangaroo squad to cover a growing injury list. Smith, who had been playing for St Helens, was poised to become Australia's oldest Test player in 40 years.

Australian fullback Billy Slater is detained by police in Manchester after a scuffle with a patron outside a nightclub but is released without charge after police determine that Slater was the victim.

Deregistered former NSW State of Origin winger Blake Ferguson begins training with the Sydney Roosters after being given permission to resume his career by the NRL.
