Kick-off
The Tigers have the continuity of three consecutive Sunday fixtures to start the season. An away match against the Dragons is succeeded by two home outings versus the Knights and Bulldogs - one at Leichhardt, one at Campbelltown. A round four match-up with the Warriors completes a seemingly gentle opening against four teams that missed the 2019 finals.
Five key matches
Knights (Round 2, Leichhardt Oval; Round 19, McDonald Jones Stadium): The club's finest 2019 performance was the 44-point thrashing that ended Newcastle's remote finals ambitions. The Tigers have won five of their past six against the Knights.
Eels (Round 5, Bankwest Stadium; Round 13, Bankwest Stadium): The Tigers were shellacked 51-6 and 30-18 by the Eels at the shared Bankwest Stadium last year. With two meetings at the venue, Michael Maguire's troops will want to prove it's their jungle in 2020.
Panthers (Round 6, Panthers; Round 14, Bankwest Stadium): After Ivan Cleary departed Concord to return to Penrith last season, he had early success against his old club as son Nathan kicked a golden-point field goal. But the Tigers ran riot in the next outing to claim a 30-4 win. No doubt there will still be some feeling in the new season.
Sharks (Round 8, Suncorp Stadium; Round 20, Netstrata Jubilee Stadium): With a rivalry between the clubs stemming from a mass migration of Tigers players to the Sharks a few years ago, the teams clashed in the final round last season to decide their finals fates. Cronulla ran away convincing winners and the Tigers will have had months to stew over it by the time Magic Round arrives. That's followed by another late-season duel.
Cowboys (Round 25, Leichhardt Oval): There was action and controversy aplenty when the Tigers snatched an extra-time win over North Queensland after being awarded a late penalty try in 2019. They steamrolled the Cowboys 28-4 next time to rub salt in the wounds. A lot could be at stake in this last-round match.
Toughest stretch
Rounds 16-18. The Tigers luckily only have to face minor premiers Melbourne and premiers the Roosters once - but it's in the space of three weeks. Sandwiched in between is a fixture against the Rabbitohs, who finished third in 2019.
And another thing
Like last season, the Tigers will play a home game at Tamworth's Scully Park. After beating the Titans there, they'll do battle with the Raiders this time.
