Kick-off
The Chooks make the road trip to Penrith to begin their quest for a three-peat, followed by a 'home' game against Manly at Central Coast Stadium. Another chapter will be penned in the Book of Feuds when the Roosters play South Sydney in round three before hosting the Titans at the SCG - the scene of last season's 58-6 drubbing of the wooden spooners.
Five key match-ups
Rabbitohs (Round 3, ANZ Stadium; Round 24, SCG): The two oldest clubs in the NRL added a few more layers to their long history in 2019, with the Roosters having the final say by dishing out a qualifying final thumping. There's always some extra spice between the cross-town rivals and you can bet neither team will back down.
Dragons (Round 7, SCG; Round 17, SCG): Often described as having the same atmosphere as a finals match, the emotion-charged Anzac Day clash is a momentous occasion. The Roosters have the Cup after holding out the Dragons in 2019 but the Red V boast the overall head-to-head advantage in the clash.
Storm (Round 9, SCG; Round 23, AAMI Park): After beating Melbourne in the 2018 decider, the Roosters once again ended the Storm's season on a sour note by edging them in the preliminary final. There's never much it in when the two most successful clubs of the modern era face off.
Knights (Round 10, SCG): Having helped the Roosters to the title as an assistant coach, new Newcastle mentor Adam O'Brien will now plot their downfall. Another ex-Rooster will guide the Knights in captain Mitchell Pearce, who ruffled some feathers when he kissed the Newcastle badge during a big win over the Tricolours last season.
Raiders (Round 11, HBF Park, Perth; Round 15, GIO Stadium): After clinching back-to-back premierships with a gritty – and somewhat controversial – win against the Raiders, the Roosters will be out to show they're far and away the superior side when they face the Green Machine twice in the space of a month.
Toughest stretch
Rounds 22-25. A home match against the gritty Sharks leads into a tough away encounter with the Storm. Next is the fierce local derby against South Sydney and then a journey to Brisbane to finish the regular season where the atmosphere is sure to be electric at Suncorp Stadium.
And another thing
The Roosters will take a home game to Perth, "hosting" Canberra at HBF Park in round 11. The experiment to play an Origin game in the west was a runaway success and you can expect another huge crowd when the grand finalists resume hostilities.
