The Roosters weren’t the only ones to go back-to-back on grand final day.
Veteran forward Greg Eastwood clinched his second straight NRL State Championship title with the Newtown Jets after winning it the previous year at the Canterbury Bulldogs.
Newtown defeated Burleigh Bears 20-16 in the dying seconds thanks to a freakish Jackson Ferris try off a Billy Magoulias kick.
In what was likely his swansong as a full-time footballer, Eastwood nailed the final conversion.
The 32-year-old, who played 241 NRL games for Brisbane and Canterbury and represented New Zealand in 28 Tests, would be happy to finish his career as a state champion.
"I couldn’t be prouder," Eastwood, who didn't feature in the Canterbury Cup NSW grand final, told NRL.com.
"Coming last after seven weeks, we had to turn it around. The boys stuck together and to go back-to-back [personally] is unreal."

Having been demoted to reserve grade by Canterbury last year and then moved on to ease salary cap pressures, Eastwood was prepared to play for Glebe-Burwood in NSW’s third-division Ron Massey Cup.
But a pitch from Jets coach Greg Matterson convinced the experienced big man to go around for Newtown, Cronulla’s feeder team.
"The coach sort of sat me down and said, 'We'd love to have you in our squad to bring the young boys through'," Eastwood said.
"Hopefully I’ve done that."
Eastwood was part of the NRL's tribute to its 2019 retiring class in the pre-match grand final entertainment but he hasn't totally ruled out pulling on the boots next season.
"We’ll see what happens. I’ll have a little break now from footy and take a look back and see how the body pulls up," he said.

The father of five added: "It’s all about my kids now and I love going to watch them play sport."
Regardless, it certainly seems that Eastwood has succeeded in helping develop some of the Jets’ promising forwards.
Prop Toby Rudolf was named Man of the Match at ANZ Stadium on Sunday, while the clutch boot of lock Magoulias produced a game-winning try in consecutive weeks.
Magoulias, 22, made his debut for the Sharks earlier this year and has been touted to take over retired legend Paul Gallen’s famous No.13 jersey in 2020.
The Cronulla-Caringbah junior has heard the chatter but isn’t buying into his own hype.
"I know people love talking about the stuff about [replacing] Gal but my job is to be the best footy player I can be and do it my way," Magoulias said.
"If the coaches like the way that is, I'm ready to go and I'll put my hand up. I'll just be playing footy - you've got to be more selective [in the NRL] but you've still got to play instinctively."
Magoulias has a fan in premiership-winning Sharks back-rower Jayson Bukuya, who lined up for Newtown in the grand final and State Championship.
"You can't write that stuff - two from two match-winners," Bukuya said.
"I'm just happy for him and the boys that have been slogging it out all year in the Jets. The club deserve it, it's unreal."
