Kangaroos prop Payne Haas.

Payne Haas may still be adjusting to rubbing shoulders with the game's elite but if his 2019 campaign has taught him one thing it's that he belongs.

The 19-year-old Broncos behemoth is set to cap off a remarkable season with an international debut for the Kangaroos later this month after collecting Dally M prop of the year honours.

It was only six years ago that Haas, who was then just entering his teenage years, watched on as his idol Petero Civoniceva finished his decorated career in Fiji colours.

He will now visit Fiji for the first time this week as part of the Prime Minister's XIII team travelling to the Pacific Nation.

"It's a real privilege, I didn't expect it but to make a team like that is crazy with the year we've had," Haas said.

"I didn't hear from Mal but got told by the Broncos staff I was in the running for it. Seibs broke the news to me when I went and saw him.

Haas humbled by PM’s XIII call up

"I've been training ever since to get ready for it and try to stay fit. I'm excited and have heard good things about Fiji."

Kangaroos coach Mal Meninga has picked Haas, in-form Raiders prop Josh Papalii, David Klemmer and Paul Vaughan as his four top-line props in line for games against New Zealand and Tonga in just over a fortnight.

Haas, who has Samoan heritage through his mother Joan, said playing for Australia was always his priority.

"That's the highest honour you can get in rugby league and if I get the opportunity I'll take it with both hands," Haas said.

"I wouldn't know what to say, words can't explain it. I back myself against anyone and think I will be 100 percent ready to go."

Haas' breakout season, which included a season average 185.2 running metres per game, 734 tackles and 102 tackle busts, is expected to see him awarded Broncos' player of the year at the club's presentation evening on Friday night.

But the Broncos' 58-0 exit from the finals still lingers for the NSW representative.

"It was bittersweet how we finished but it's something we'll fix up," Haas said.

"If it doesn't [hurt] then there's something wrong you're not playing league for the right reasons. You've got to get over it and move on to the next job.

"I'll have a reflection and look what I've achieved this year soon."
