Future point-scoring king Eric Simms is born. Simms topped the point-scoring for four straight seasons and won four premierships with the Rabbitohs - the club he played his entire career with.

He played 206 games with the Bunnies and eight games for Australia.

Newcastle coach Nathan Brown confirms that centre Jesse Ramien has played his last game for the club after a mutual parting of the ways.
